Question
Chapter 44.5, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction
To write:
Decomposers feed at the last trophic level.
Introduction:
Decomposers feed on bodies of dead animals and rotten fruits and vegetables or plants. They also called saprophytes or saprobes. They are micro consumers and some are macro consumers. They are also living components. They breakdown the complicated compounds of the dead protoplasm of consumers or producers. For example, bacteria and fungi, molds, etc. The roles of decomposers are very important in all ecosystems. Without the activity or action of decomposers, the whole cycle of inorganic compounds will get blocked. They are heterotrophs.
