Novocaine is also known as procaine. It is an anaesthetic drug. It has anti-inflammatory and mood enhancing effects. The name “novocaine” came from Latin. In Latin “nov” means new and the term “caine” is a common ending term for alkaloids. Alkaloids are generally used as anaesthetics.
