For some people, their idea of traveling is to get on the road to Dubuque. But for Cole Wickham, an active 10th grader at Anamosa High School, traveling includes seeing half of the United States, as well as Canada and Jamaica. Cole says he likes traveling because he gets to experience new things. Cole was born in Cedar Rapids on February 27, 2001. His parents are Eric and Sara Wickham and he has a 13-year-old brother, Austin, and an 11-year-old sister, Rylee. Cole says some of his best times have been spent with his family. Cole says that he and his family bond by golfing together. Cole doesn’t have any pets right now, but he used to have two kitties. This past summer, Cole was very active. He golfed, attended football camp and put in 57 Silver
I love traveling and exploring new places as long as it is for free. Wild-land firefighters travel across the country. I know it is because of work, but you can visit tourist attractions in particular city/state in spare time.
According to Devin his family life is very dysfunctional. He is 16 years old born in Pittsburgh Pa, on December 19th 1999. He has moved a lot over the course of his life. Haunton, Irwin, Turtle creek, East Pittsburgh, Export and Delmont are all the places that he has lived. Jeannette Pa, is where he presently lives at. He is not the only child there are 3 others. Chad,Brandon and Alyssa are all of his older siblings he is the youngest of all three. He has two cats the first one is orange and white and his name is Riodan and the other is beige and her name is Autumn.
For some travelling can be a way to escape it all and even find love.
What Cole needs is simply a friend. I say this because he needs that sense of trust. He doesn’t have parents that he can trust and can bond with. I feel that him being on the island instead of going to jail, and Garvey giving him the a.toow and the opportunity to go through circle justice gives him that feeling of trust and that feeling that someone actually cares for him. In chapter 13, when Cole is of the island it says that Cole lets go of the a.toow and grips onto Garvey’s arm and Garvey says,”I’m not going anywhere me. Rosey and I will be here with you all night.” After that Cole thanks him.To me that is very important. This shows that Cole has trust for Garvey and is starting to form that bond that he
Willow Marsh, a freshman at Palmyra High School, has a passion for traveling all around the United States and has shared some of her most memorable parts about this experience. In 3rd grade Willow moved from Utah to Pennsylvania and this is what really started her love for traveling. When asked why she loves traveling so much she responds with, “it’s cool to experience all that the world has to offer.”
Ever since I was a couple months old I have been travelling. Flying from coast to coast and country to country. I have flown on nearly three hundred flights domestically and some internationally. Internationally I have been to Paris, Toronto, Jamaica, and Cancun. I have been to Cancun twice as I vacationed there for my final spring break before high school graduation. Domestically, the most notable place I have flown to constantly is Buffalo, New York where my father’s family is from. Traveling has allowed me to experience new places, foods, and culture.
My style of traveling includes going with the flow. Going to a new city and getting lost while trying new things!
Another thing that also got me interested in traveling and experiencing new things is my imagination. The thoughts and wonders that went through my head about the rest of the world and not just my little town made me most interested in traveling and seeing the different cultures and lives of others. My imagination was wandering most when i was on my international flight on the was to Costa Rica because I didn't really know what to
Traveling internationally tends to reignite my awareness of how fortunate we, as Americans, are. The main reason is that Americans have the opportunity for more freedoms. These freedoms can be individual, political, religious, etc. with the list becoming almost endless. Freedom is a significant characteristic of the United States and the reason many people make sacrifices to live in the land of the free. However, freedom is not just achieved once. Freedoms can easily be taken away and we must continue to fight for our freedoms.
“Oh the places you’ll go” by Dr.Seuss was my favorite book ever since i was young. Hearing the title brought my mind to countries, cities and oceans waiting to be explored .As I got older I learned that there was much more than just sites to be seen. I learned that there was human geography, international relations, comparative government and politics, and international law and much more involved into becoming apart of the world .I’ve gotten opportunities to travel to Portugal,Spain and Puerto Rico. Usually when people my age travel they want to be the beach and go to waterparks when I travel i like to learn the government, geography and their politics. I’m very interested in the world around me. In intermediate school and elementary school
Throwing oneself into an entirely different culture for a few weeks a year, is one of the most intellectually gratifying things I have come to experience. It exposed me to the fact that there is more to life than meets the eye. Accepting its complexity is almost as important as understanding what makes it complex. My visits to Poland have opened my one dimensional mindset, and allowed for more complicated reasoning. Traveling also forces an individual into strange situations they are unaccustomed to, and shows that not everything can be learned in a classroom. It teaches politics, economy, history, geography and less general things such as the ability to explore, grow, and make mistakes. They are left with the satisfaction of doing things they never knew they could
The first thing Goins talks about is traveling teaches you to live an adventurist life. This is true people can live more freely and explore the world while they are young. Goins said in his article that he hiked a Mayan ruin if someone were to do this when they are older they would have a more difficult time doing this compared to someone who is young. He also said that taking the risk of traveling well you’re young inspires other to step out of their fear and go travel. This is true people see their friends out traveling the world well they go to school or work every day and they wish they could be that person traveling and having fun. Seeing other people travel really inspires other to take that risk and travel the world.
I think Cole is changing because of three different reasons. He is learning how he can't control everything just like how he couldn't control the storm. He is also learning that being afraid of someone or something is a normal thing. For example, when he sees the bear, he trembles with helplessness. Cole is just not afraid of the bear but also afraid of dying. The last thing is that Cole is starting to feel sympathy towards others. For example, when the sparrows were dying, he was actually starting to care and feel unhappy for them. These are some of the reasons why I think Cole is changing.
“My love for traveling started in first grade. My family and I went to France for two weeks and my mind was blown. First of all, the idea of flying on a plane for half the day was scary. But once we landed, the fresh French air filled my nose and from then on I knew I would cherish the new experiences.”
I have visited a lot of places around the world. Traveling is fun to me and its very interesting to me. Looking to learn more history about countries with their cultures trying new things around their culture their past because if you wanna look at the future of somthing look at the past.
