To be an expert at something is to do something multiple times until you're good at it and it becomes easy. I can honestly say my experiences this summer were something to remember forever, I learned about so much new culture, tried so much new and interesting food, and experienced so many new things from different places. One place especially was Costa Rica, but not just one part of Costa Rica, I went to six different cities in two weeks. From horseback riding and zip lining through a tropical rainforest, to exploring the beautiful volcanoes and waterfalls, to getting involved in the folkloric dancing, I would say I'm becoming more of an expert in experiencing new things and being adventurous. What I learned most about in all the different …show more content…
Another thing that also got me interested in traveling and experiencing new things is my imagination. The thoughts and wonders that went through my head about the rest of the world and not just my little town made me most interested in traveling and seeing the different cultures and lives of others. My imagination was wandering most when i was on my international flight on the was to Costa Rica because I didn't really know what to …show more content…
For example, in Costa Rica you would never think that spices and flavor wasn’t a thing but when I experienced it I came to realize that there food doesn't have a lot of flavor or spices added in, although I didn't enjoy the food as much, it made me learn that not everywhere has something as little as hot sauce or salt and pepper so even just dressing for salad. The food we mostly ate was rice and black beans for almost every meal, along with lots of bread and plantains. Nothing I expected I was going to eat at all, but it was all part of the
This last summer the Foreign Language Club traveled to Costa Rica, a Spanish speaking country; this was a transforming experience for me because I learned many more things than just Spanish. It was the first time traveling without my parents and that was a little bit scary. I just turned 18 at the time.
I am drawn to the thought that vacationing is a way of making everlasting memories, in addition to encountering many diverse cultures around the world.
-I learned error, I made it the Dominican Republic and was to have given affection, friendship and confidence to people who did not deserve. This happened out of nowhere and It was created a serious mistake in my life, people existed which gave him affection, help and there was no care about anything. I started to love and treat them like family to me, they were people who shared daily, at school, my free time and the more things. Always looking for the best for everyone on Regardless nothing, always I wanted to know how they were, everything.
This question drove me back to high school. I attended a military school back from my home country, Ecuador, we only where surrounded by males. It was not difficult for me to cope, because I was in my comfort zone. However, I moved to New York City 10 years ago and I am still in the process of adaptation. I am still seeking to develop coping skills to adapt to my new environments, work, school, friends. Similar, I wanted to fit in and I seek for people that look, think and come from my same backgrounds. But, I did not give myself the opportunity to look for other friends. I even isolated myself. Once I started to give the chance to other people I got in trouble, because they want to use you, people want to take advantage of you one way or another,
Upon our arrival to The Dominican Republic, my mother informed me that we were going to spend most of our vacation at my grandparent’s house. Immediately, I was filled with exhilaration. After so many years, I would finally visit my beloved grandparents. I had already visualized what spending the summer at their house would be like. Rolling in the sand of the clear see-through beaches, listening to the birds sing and chirp around us as we savor our early morning breakfast, enjoying the sound of waves smashing into the rocks on the shore, and laying in an air-conditioned room when the temperature got too high.
I have had the opportunity to live in both Montana and Costa Rica, both which are synonymous with anything that might encompass the thoughts of adventure, environment and the outdoors. So much so, that their economy is centralized around eco-tourism. I always had Glacier National Park, the Bob Marshal Wilderness and Corcovado National Park right at my footsteps do to my father being a wildlife biologist.
My grandmother, Anastasia Herrera, fearing my father’s death was imminent, put him on a plane bound to the United States. Apparently, my dad, barely fifteen years old at the time, had joined the Constitutionalists revolution in Santo Domingo. This rebel group was comprised of military agitators and civilian combatants fighting against Trujillistas or politicos adopting the imperialistic ideals of the fallen Dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. My father was not an idle supporter, but rather an active participant who manufactured Molotov cocktails, flinging bombs at law enforcement officers in the streets while the civil war gained momentum.
I love adventuring and traveling, as well as meeting new people and trying new foods. I was fortunate enough to be born into a military family, so we move and travel constantly. I've lived in Korea, Germany, Louisiana, and New Mexico, however I have spent the majority of my life in Italy. (I also have a very Italian grandma who talks with her hands and loves cooking almost as much as she loves the pope). It's taken some getting used to being back in the states (the lifestyle, for one, and the fact I can't
In my travels of the world I have found myself immersed in many cultures and varieties of ethnicity; I have been very fortunate to live in a day and age where such communication and experience is possible in one lifetime. I have seen La Cathedral de Notre Dame, the Statue of Liberty, the home of Da Vinci, and so many more wonderfully spiritual and historic monuments. Yet still I can say with the utmost certainty that no location has left such a lasting impact on my soul as the quaint, simple country of Costa Rica. Although many places have penetrated me with a sense of what the majestic earth and her inhabitants are capable of and have forced me to question whether or not anything is beyond the grasp of human ingenuity, none have brought
The first day of my life took place in a military hospital in Wurzburg, Germany. My father was an officer in the U.S. Army and my mother stayed in the home. While living in Germany I attended a German school where my brother and I were the only students who spoke English. Despite the fact that we did not speak the same language, we were able to interact the same way most young children would. As an adult I have often thought that my desire to travel and search for diverse human relationships was influenced by my early childhood.
I’m sorry that I haven't blogged regularly but as you can imagine I am still trying to get comfortable with my new life. Now that I’m here I’m really starting to realize that Haiti has no structure, my mom would have a fit! (Love you mom!) Work day hours vary constantly, you can start work pretty much at 7:30AM and then declare at 3PM that you are going home. With my line of work we are constantly depending on the wifi, which as you can imagine is not the greatest in a third world country, but we manage to get as much done as we can. I can honestly say that every day is different, there is never really a schedule or a plan as to how one should go about doing things. You simply just do them. Transition from the U.S. has
Brian stood up and while gazing at me told Mr. Smith, “I like her idea. I wish for Isabel to accompany David and me to the Dominican Republic today. I want my baby sister home as soon as possible.” Mr. Smith replied, “Mr. Ross, Mr. Johnson is one of our best criminal lawyers and more than capable to handle this case on his own. Isabel is a brilliant attorney, but she is inexperienced.”
Maria Materiano, an expectant mother and her husband, Salvador exited the large Mediterranean style house, ready for a night on the town, waited on the veranda and watched it rain, while waiting for the limousine. Driving the limo close to the veranda, Charles got out, opened the door while holding the umbrella to keep Maria from getting wet as her as her husband helped her into the back seat.
The Caribbeans. An amazing life in the Caribbeans. I love to hang out with my Family. My kids love to play together, and my wife is an amazing being. We might not be what you think we are. We are pineapples. That’s right. Pineapples. We love to live and relax here. I am going to go to bed. I… I feel something moving… more like shaking… I’m so confused. I wake up, and there is some creature standing on two… limbs? It grabs me with one of its other limbs, and takes me to a weird-shaped object. The object starts to rumble. The creature puts me and some pineapples that I know into a wooden box. All I feel is rumbling. This box is shaking so much, I can’t focus. This noise is surprisingly making me… really tired. I wake up once again, and I feel this box moving. I
By the way of illustration, it always happened to me! I have lived in three different countries and every time we moved to new land I became extremely excited about every new experience I was going to face there and undoubtedly making new friends who might have different religion or lifestyle was interesting too. Specifically, new lessons that can be learned from new friendships always looks promising to me that brings this strong desire to travel whenever its possible and of course
