Concept explainers
To determine:
Classify the conditions, which are affected only by genes or genes along with environmental factors.
Introduction:
The genetic diseases are defined aa a condition which are caused due to problem in the DNA sequencing of the individuals. There are some illnesses, which are caused by DNA abnormalities, but are highly influenced by environment and the life style of the individuals.
Explanation of Solution
The conditions such as down syndrome, hemophilia, sickle cell anemia and albinism are entirely dependent on the genes which is inherited from the parents. Heart issues, diabetes and cancer are some condition, which may occur due to genetic abnormality, but they are very much dependent on the life style.
Following is the classification of given diseases:
Genes only | Genes and environmental factors |
Down syndrome Hemophilia Sickle cell anemia Albinism | Arteriosclerosis Down syndrome Type 1 diabetes Leukemia |
