Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

A circuit breaker is a safety device that stops the current in a circuit when the circuit gets overheated, hence preventing a fire.

A parallel circuit has multiple branches for flow of current. A circuit breaker connected in parallel with the circuit will stop current in only one path when it switches off due to overheating. Current will continue to flow in other paths. Overheating in all components will not be prevented and a fire will be caused.

Conclusion:

The circuit breaker must not be connected in parallel to the circuit that it is protecting.
