Explanation of Solution

A tree trunk is the stem and major wooden axis of a tree. The tree trunk is an essential characteristic in the identification of a tree. The tree trunk frequently differs markedly from the bottom of the trunk to the top based on the species. The trunk of the tree is also the most essential portion of the tree for the production of timber. The carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and H2O from the soil are incorporated into carbohydrates during photosynthesis to produce much of the mass of the tree. Thus, the largest percentage of the mass or source of majority of matter in the tree trunk comes from the atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2).
