The Miles per Gallon Calculator Problem
Create an application that calculates a car’s gas mileage. The formula for calculating the miles that a car can travel per gallon of gas is:
In the formula MPG is miles-per-gallon, miles is the number of miles that can be driven on a full tank of gas, and gallons is the number of gallons that the tank holds.
The application’s form should have TextBox controls that let the user enter the number of gallons of gas the tank holds and the number of miles the car can be driven on a full tank. When the Calculate MPG button is clicked, the application should display the number of miles that the car can be driven per gallon of gas. The form should also have a Clear button that clears the input and results, and an Exit button that ends the application. If the user fails to enter numeric values, display an appropriate error message and do not attempt to perform calculations. The application’s form should appear as shown in Figure 3–58.

- PYTHON PROGRAMMING Reza Enterprises sells tickets for buses, tours, and other travel services. Because Reza frequently mistypes long ticket numbers, Reza Enterprises has asked his students to write an application that shows if a ticket is invalid. Your application/program tells the ticket agent to enter a six-digit ticket number. Ticket numbers are designed so that if you lose the last digit of the number, then divide by 7, the remainder of the division is exactly the same to the last dropped digit. This process is shown below: Step 1: Enter the ticket number; for example 123454 Step 2: Remove the last digit, leaving 12345 Step 3: Determine the remainder when the ticket number from step 2 is divided by 7. In this case, 12345 divided by 7 leaves a remainder of 4. Step 4: Display a message to the ticket agent indicating whether the ticket number is valid or not. If the ticket number is valid, save the number to a .txt file called “tickets.txt” and continue to loop your program…arrow_forwardFat Percentage Calculator One gram of fat has 9 calories. If you know the number of fat grams in a particular food, you can use the following formula to calculate the number of calories that come from fat in that food: Calories from fat = Fat grams × 9 If you know the food’s total calories, you can use the following formula to calculate the percentage of calories from fat: Percentage of calories from fat = Calories from fat ÷ Total calories Create an application that allows the user to enter: • The total number of calories for a food item • The number of fat grams in that food item The application should calculate and display: • The number of calories from fat • The percentage of calories that come from fat Also, the application’s form should have a CheckBox that the user can check if he or she wants to know whether the food is considered low fat. (If the calories from fat are less than 30% of the total calories of the food, the food is considered low fat.) Use the following test data…arrow_forwardScientists measure an object’s mass in kilograms and its weight in Newtons. If you know the amount of mass of an object, you can calculate its weight, in Newtons, with the following formula: Weight = Mass × 9.8Create an application that lets the user enter an object’s mass and then calculates its weight. If the object weighs more than 1000 Newtons, display a message indicating that it is too heavy. If the object weighs less than 10 Newtons, display a message indicating that it is too light.arrow_forward

The following formula can be used to determine a moving object’s kinetic energy: KE =1/2mv2 In the formula KE is the kinetic energy, m is the object’s mass in kilograms, and v is the object’s velocity in meters per second. Create an application that allows the user to enter an object’s mass and velocity and then displays the object’s kinetic energy. The application should have a method named KineticEnergy that accepts an object’s mass (in kilograms) and velocity (in meters per second) as arguments. The method should return the amount of kinetic energy that the object has.arrow_forwardChapter 4: Making Decis ions I. - Add Fractions problem: create in a sandbox environment. Directions: In this program you will ask the user for 4 integers that represtent two fractions. First ask for the numerator of the first and then the denominator. Then ask for the numerator and denominator of the second. Your program should add the two fractions and print out the result. For example: a sample program run might look like this, Numerator One: 1 Denominator One: 2 Numerator Two: 2 Denominator Two: 5 The sum is 9/10 //remember if you have two fractions, the following formula should be used: a/b + c/d = (a*d +b*c) / b* d public class MyProgram { public static void main(String[] args) { //Ask the user for 4 numbers. (don't forget to import your Scanner class) //create your final numerator //create your final denominator //print out your result like the example abovearrow_forwardC# Account numbers sometimes contain a check digit that is the result of a mathematical calculation. The inclusion of the digit in an account number helps ascertain whether the number is a valid one. Write an application named CheckDigit that asks a user to enter a four-digit account number and determines whether it is a valid number. The number is valid if the fourth digit is the remainder when the number represented by the first three digits of the four-digit number is divided by 7. For example, 7770 is valid, because 0 is the remainder when 777 is divided by 7. If the account number is valid, output The account number is valid. If the account number is invalid output Invalid. If the account number is too short or too long output Account number invalid - it must have 4 digits.arrow_forwardTOPICS: Data and Expressions MUST BE IN JAVA. PLEASE USE COMMENTS AND WRITE THE CODE IN SIMPLEST FORM. Write an application that reads a value representing a number of seconds, then displays the equivalent amount of time as a combination of hours, minutes, and seconds. For example, 9999 seconds is equivalent to 2 hours, 46 minutes, and 39 seconds. Hint: This requires using the % modulus operator. The trick with multiple units of measure like this is to start with the largest unit (hours) and work down. Testing: Submit testing exhibits using the following inputs: 0, 1, 60, 3600, 3661, and 9999arrow_forward
- Gino's Pizzaria wants an application to compute the price of pizza orders, based on the following: If the size/toppings are:small with 2 or fewer toppings, charge is $7. small with more than 2 toppings, charge is $9. medium with 3 or fewer toppings, charge is $12. medium with more than 3 toppings, charge is $15. large with any number of toppings, charge is $23. Write pseudocode for a program that accepts data for an order:order number size of pizza number of toppings Display the order number and the final price for the pizza. EXAMPLES: If "284, medium, 3" is entered, then display "Order #284 costs $12"If "117, large, 0" is entered, then display "Order #117 costs $23"If "509, small, 6" is entered, then display "Order #509 costs $9"arrow_forwardDesign the worst calculator ever: an application that accepts two numbers from the user and, when a button is pushed, performs a single operation and displays the results. You may choose: Multiplication, Division, Subtraction, square root, or raising the first number to the exponent of the second number. Don't use addition as we already did that in class. The result must be displayed to the user only when an appropriately labeled button is pushed.arrow_forwardC# Question Create a desktop application that allows the user to enter a maximum integer. The application should sum all the even integers from zero up to and including that maximum number if it is even. The sum should be displayed in the form. For example: For a maximum integer of 50 the sum is 650. For a maximum integer of 11 the sum is 30. The program should have a method named SumEvens that receives the maximum integer as an argument and returns the sum of the even numbers. The SumEvens method should use a for loop to calculate the sum of the even numbers.arrow_forward
