Question
Chapter 26.6, Problem 14P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The structure of PTH derivative that will be produced in Edmund degradation of angiotension II is to be given.
Concept introduction:
Edmund degradation involves the treatment of a peptide with phenylisothiocyanate(PITC) followed by treatment with trifluoroacetic acid.
In the first step PITC attacks the NH2 group of the N-terminal acid. In the second step the N-terminal acid residue splits from the peptide chain to yield an anilinothiazolinone(ATZ) derivative along with chain shortened peptide chain. In the third step the aqueous acid converts ATZ into a phenylthiohydantoin (PTH).
To give:
The structure of PTH derivative that will be produced in Edmund degradation of angiotension II.

Briefly, in what circumstances are albumin and prealbumin levels worth assessing?
In the first step of aminoacyl group linkage to a tRNA, an amino acid reacts with ATP to yield an aminoacyl-AMP and pyrophosphate. The bond between the amino acyl group and the AMP is described as a mixed anhydride. Explain the differences between an anhydride bond and a mixed anhydride bond. Why is this reaction irreversible?

However, a study of the recurrenceof colon polyps after three years of Vioxx found an increasedrisk for heart attack and stroke beginning after 18 months oftreatment. As a result, Vioxx was withdrawn from the market, and an FDA panel concluded that COX-2 inhibitors as a classhave increased cardiovascular risk that varies by drug anddose.
