Expert Solution & Answer
Chapter 19, Problem 26RQE
Explanation of Solution
Static queue:
- A static queue has fixed size.
- The usual implementation is in the form of an array.
- The starting size of the queue should be specified.
- The elements cannot be added if the specified size is full.
- The sides in which the items are inserted are called as “Rear” end, and which are deleted is called as “Front” end.
Operations performed on static queue:
A static queue can perform two operations. They are:
- Enqueue
- Dequeue
Static queue uses circular array:
Problems overcome by using circular array:
- (i) The circular array “wraps around” the queue elements at the end of the array.
- (ii) In static queue, if the “rear” position is at the last of the queue array, it cannot be moved further when an element is inserted. In the below diagram, when another element called “enqueue(50)” needs to be inserted, the “Rear” position cannot be moved further because, the queue size is full...

The name deque stands for “double-ended queue.” The difference between the two is that with a deque, you can insert, remove, or view from either end of the queue. - Develop an application in java language that stores characters A, B and C in a queue array and then displays both the size and the first-in element of the stack. The application should then remove the first element of the queue and then display both the size and the first-in element of the queue again. Appropriate queue methods should be used to add, delete and display characters.arrow_forwardWhat are the key differences between arrays and linked lists and how do they work?arrow_forwardIn a queue implementation using array of size 5, the array index starts with 0 where head and tail values are 3 and 4 respectively. - Why do we have to go to the trouble of building a circular array stack? The implementation of queues must take the form of a circular array for some reason.arrow_forwardIn a circular queue implementation using an array of size 4, the array index starts with 0 where the front and rear values are 2 and 3 respectively. The system allows a person to make a reservation for a specific date. A person can change the reservation date or even cancel his booking anytime. The system puts all reservations in a queue. The park will allow only certain number of persons on any given day in order the reservation was made. For each day the system will print out persons allowed to visit the park. For sake of simplicity, dates are being confined to 15th to 30th. The system should ask the user to enter code for different operations. It reads all data from the datafile amusement.dat. The first integer on datafile indicates limit of persons allowed on any day. code 1: make reservation, system expects date followed by name (within 20 characters) and makes reservation. If number of bookings exceeds allowed number, then system prints SORRY, QUOTA OVER and moves over to read next code. code 2: change date of…arrow_forward
