The infrahyoid group of muscles.
Introduction:
The infrahyoid muscles are the group of quadric-muscles in the front part of the neck. The four hyoid muscles are: Omohyoid, Sternohyoid, Thyrohyoid and Sternothyroid muscles.
- 1. Omohyoid is a hyoid depressing muscles. It is present in the front of the neck.
- 2. Sternohyoid muscle is a thin muscle, which attaches hyoid bone to the sternum.
- 3. Thyrohyoid muscle is a quadrilateral skeletal muscle, which is small and elevates larynx.
- 4. Sternothyroid muscle is a shorter muscle of the neck, which depresses larynx.
