Scrooge was a cranky old man who hated Christmas but learns to carry Christmas with him through the whole year. Scrooge was hated by his father because his mom died during his birth. Scrooge is very good at doing business. Scrooge is haunted by the ghost of his former business partner. His partner says that he will see three spirits one at the stroke of three the next at the stroke of two and the third in his own good time. Here are a couple things similar between the movie and the play. Scrooge doesn’t like Christmas in both of them. The words in both are about the same. In both Scrooge didn’t believe in ghost .Scrooge in both didn’t really believe in what was going on with the sprits he thought he was dreaming.
In Scrooge’s past and present, his actions had not been admirable. In reaction to this, Scrooge had closed himself off and become cold and impenetrable by any kindness. He had no empathy for others. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come changed this mindset by showing Scrooge the most severe consequences of his cold hearted actions. In
Scrooge is a rude, dismal man who hates mankind, and Christmas. During Christmastime there is a lot of charity and for being such a wealthy man that Scrooge is, he hates to give money to charity. He also thinks that Christmas is waste of time, and it could be used for
In 'A Christmas Carol', Dickens represents Scrooge as a 'squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner' who is against Christmas and happiness and values money, yet given a chance to redeem his fate. Marley's Ghost has come to warn Scrooge to change
One difference in the movie was that the Ghost of Christmas yet to come has a hand of skin. Not a hand without skin that was wrote in the book. I think that this makes a difference though because it doesn't show a big impact on the story. I think Charles Dickens put the skinless hand in his story to give his story a "chill-factor". I don't think that the director of the movie version of A Christmas Carol thought that it was a big deal or a big impact to the rest of the story. Another difference between book and movie is that Scrooge doesn't go to church at the end of the story. I think it makes a big difference though, because it shows how much Scrooge has changed since the three spirits came to visit him. It shows a before and after effect which I think made a big impact on the story. The last significant change between the book and the movie is that when Scrooge follows the Ghost of Christmas yet to come, he ends up falling into his grave. This is significant because Scrooge gets to meet the old Scrooge and gives him a slap in the face of reality of what's going to happen if things don't change. It's ironic too because it's the new Scrooge that wakes up on the bed in the morning.
Scrooge is a very mean person and he doesn't care for anyone, he will be an old miser and he could care less about anything in the world except himself. He does mean stuff all the time liked decline charity and he doesn't even wanna make the world a better place. He even declined his nephews invite to a Christmas party now that's mean and when he's asked to donate for charity he is too much of a greedy soul to do anything to help anyone and he says that they need to go to a workhouse or prison, He doesn't care about anyone and he ignores everyone and could care less about the world's problems. He thinks that that is ok and then he gets a visit from a ghost saying that three ghosts are gonna come get him and that he shouldn't have been that greedy and he is gonna get a visit from them. Scrooge is freaking out and it takes him a while and he eventually gets sent to bed. In my opinion, though he is acting like that because Marley died and he is emotionally depressed and he takes his pain out on others because he is very said that's just my opinion.
The ghost was from the past. It showed him all the bad things that happened in the past all the things. All of his old days came back when the ghost of Christmas past showed him. He showed Scrooge when his sister died and that was the sad part. Then the ghost finally took scrooge back to his house and he lied down and it brought back good and bad memories. That was how the ghost of Christmas past influence
Throughout the drama, “A Christmas Carol”, the playwright, Charles Dickens, tells a story of a man who is irritable and only cared about money. He realized his mistake before it was too late. The main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, is able to change his life when he meets various ghosts. Three events that caused Scrooge to change includes visits from The Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present, and The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.
At the beginning of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is bitter, greedy, and selfish. He was rude to just about everyone he met, because he was discouraged over losing some really important people in his life. And since he was upset over that, he definitely didn’t have to try to act the way he was feeling. He had a right to be feeling that way, but he shouldn’t have taken action. But as he met three ghosts, Scrooge changes from these traits through his experiences throughout the story.
Scrooge had a miserable childhood where he was always in a boarding school and his parents never visited him. If you were sent to a boarding school and felt your parents forgot you, would you be an angry adult? Scrooge in the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a major character in the story in which he is not very nice to anybody because of his life happenings. When he appears in the story, he is greedy and doesn’t want to like anybody, he is a very unhappy man that only cares about himself. But at the end he kind of is clear that he was very childish and that he didn’t care about anyone else but himself so he decided he wanted to change his act. While he is with all the spirits, he goes from greedy and mean to clear of his mistakes, he wanted to be nice to everybody, and wanted to tell people that, by giving back to them in any way possible.
Ebenezer Scrooge is a grumpy old man, who would rather see the world burn than see people be happy. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a book about a lonely old man and his hatred for the world and how three supernatural ghost change is life. Scrooge is a businessman with a black heart. Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s business partner, died on Christmas Eve, and his death is why Scrooge hates anything and everyone. Around seven years after Marley’s death, Scrooge is visited by Marley’s ghost who warns Scrooge of the three spirits that will haunt him.
The First of the Three Spirits takes Scrooge through his depressing childhood. As Scrooge and the Spirit pass through his childhood, he sees himself as a young boy again. As a result of these visions, Scrooge feels bad because he
The way Scrooge acts in the story says a lot about him, but so does the description about him in the sixth paragraph. The passage clearly states that Scrooge is “a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone” and is “hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel struck out a generous fire.” Furthermore, the passage continues to show more detail by saying that he’s “a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner” and “solitary as an oyster.” All of this shows a generous amount of greediness and coldheartedness. The text even says “the cold within him froze his features,” which proves the point that he is not a very happy camper. The story continues and compares him to weather and how it can be beautiful, while Scrooge cannot be. As it continues, we discover that Scrooge hates Christmas and everything related to it (including carolers, donors, etc.)
I´m about to compare the story of “A Christmas Carol” and the film “Scrooge”. I´m going to be talking about the characters, setting, and the mood. All of these elements will help me define which one of the two methods of delivery (play or film) is better at the moment of telling the story.
As the ghosts come, Scrooge begins his change of heart. The ghosts teach him that money is not important, but being kind, caring, and having a love for family is the true meaning of Christmas. He realizes that in the past he has had a nice life, involved with family and friends and even love. But this is where he discovers his lust towards wealth and a rich lifestyle. In the
In the movie Ebenezer Scrooge’s nephew Fred visits him and invites him to come have Christmas dinner with him and MR.Scrooge says no because Christmas is a Humbug and a waste of money. The same also happens in the book.In the movie and book 3 spirits came after the ghost of Jacob Marley.
