INTRODUCTION: I. Have you ever found yourself scrolling through social media, looking at pictures of gorgeous places and wishing you could be there right now? Are you tired of constantly just seeing the world through your 5-inch smart phone? II. Well then it is time for you to get out there and travel!! Studies conducted at Columbia Business School have proved that travelling lowers your stress levels, improves brain health and even decreases your risk of heart disease! III. I have been fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to travel a handful of times now and having just got back from a three week trip to Iraq -I can assure you the experiences that traveling unfolds are life changing! IV. Now don’t get me wrong, travelling is a privilege and it is definitely not cheap! But fortunately for all of us, it is one we can all acquire with a little bit of hard work! V. I will now be providing you with a few facts, personal experiences, and reasons on why you should travel! BODY: I. First, we are going to go over the health benefits of traveling! A. Traveling allows you to stay fit 1. Traveling makes you push your self to be more active, walk around, take a hike to see an incredible view and essentially make your muscles work twice as hard. a) According to the U.S department of Health & Human Services, Children now spend more than seven and a half hours in front of a screen. i. This stat is not only scary but also detrimental to our future, so why not make a change in a way that is enjoyable? Why not travel? B. Traveling helps you “Recharge your battery” 1. Going away for a few weeks, days or even hours can have a substantially positive effect on your health and even decrease stress levels a) Stress can build from following a boring daily routine and trying to balance work, social and school life. b) The key to eliminating the harmful stress build up that can lead to depression, self-harm and much more is putting yourself in a different environment. i. One study found that three days after vacation, subjects’ physical complaints, their quality of sleep, and mood had improved as compared to before their travels. C. Travel aids you in
