The United States is one of the country in the world that has a complete credit system, all kinds of laws protect the legitimate and interests of everyone in the United States. Fair Credit Reporting Act can be considered it is the first law about people’s credit, it has a huge impact on the entire American society. In my essay, I will discover why Fair Credit Reporting Act is a great law and find out this law’s influence. After reading the Fair Credit Reporting Act’s table of contents, my first impression is this law’s main purpose is to protect the consumers’ privacy. First, it clearly defined how to collect consumers’ information legally: “The term "consumer report" means any written, oral, or other communication of any information by a consumer reporting agency bearing on a consumer's credit worthiness, credit standing, credit capacity, character, general reputation, personal characteristics, or mode of living” (Fair Credit Reporting Act, page 4). Also, collect all the information is very important, no matter the information is positive or negative. After collecting the information, then is how to use the information.
