The motive of audit is to provide the firm shareholders with an independent, expert opinion in order to check that whether the final accounts of the company state the true as well as fair view of the financial position of the firm and whether it could be relied on.

Independence is the important means through which the auditor states that the auditor could perform the task in the objective way. In other words, it means considering an unbiased viewpoint.
