Why are testes and ovaries considered as primary sex organs?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Testes are the primary sex organ in males. Ovaries are the primary sex organ in females. Testes produce sperm (male gamete). Ovaries produce ovum (female gamete). Gametes contain haploid (n) number of chromosomes.

After fertilisation (fusion of a sperm and an ovum), a diploid (n + n = 2n) zygote. Zygote develops into the mature organism.
