Whooping cough or pertussis is a bacterial disease. It is also known as 100 day cough. The bacterium responsible for causing whooping cough is Bordetella Pertussis. There is a vaccine available for the prevention of this disease but a vaccinated person may also develop the disease but with milder symptoms.
