Question 3
As part of the HP's Distribution and Logistics team, we believe that the advantages of
specialization were not necessarily lost in any way with teamwork. Generally, Teams
are made up of individuals who will have various skill sets, all coming together
working as a unit to achieve major goals and/or objectives.
Those skills set allows for various persons to be able to combine their knowledge and
abilities, but it by no means reduces the specialization being lost.
Furthermore, tasks can be delegated by a group leader after a determination has
been made as to who best fits based on experience and skills. In that way
specialization does take place but each task is broken down with the team being
constantly updated in phases to keep abreast with overall objectives, ensuring
everyone feels part and parcel of the project, this is why all members of the team
share leadership roles.
The advantages gained from the team, strengthen the exert possibilities. This is
because when more than one head is placed together better ideas come forth. If there
was not a team to brainstorm and assess the situation of not meeting the customer's
needs, then this would affect HP's image terribly. In that, the company might end up
losing its customers - who would want to seek an establishment where they were
getting better services. The team saved HP business with time management and its
distribution of cartridges. They are now able to produce more products in less time.
Question 4
Strongly believe that Loretta Wilson's team achieved their job objective. Regarding
the steps Ms. Wilson took, it led HP down the right path for them to keep business
moving without pause. Firstly, Ms. Wilson reported to the head of HP because she
needed a solid on hand working team. Secondly, contact was made with the directors
of operations, planning, communicators, and PR. Ms. Wilson ensured her staff's
proper working plan. There is always staff on-site when it is time to make regular
deliveries and replacements. As a logistic manager, Ms. Wilson has proven precisely
what she needs to be regarding her position at HP. Those steps resulted in the
company factoring in 60,000 products each day, allowing them to be stocked up and
ready to provide 52 states with their services by only having 6 locations across the
United States.
