Obtain a petri dish filled with agar. Measure the initial width of each hole in
the agar and record below. Place 1 drop of potassium permanganate in one
hole of the agar. Now place 1 drop of methylene blue solution in the second
hole. Then, at 15-minute intervals (for a total of 45 minutes), measure the
diameter of the colored circles that form around the holes.
(Scrape the contents of the used plates into the hazardous waste
container provided. Discard Plastic Plates.)
