“Since you have asked multiple question, we will solve the first question for you. If you want any specific question to be solved then please specify the question number or post only that question.”

Biological control is the utilization of living organisms to control pests.

Step 2

A strategy for managing pests, such as mosquitoes, mites, weeds and plant diseases using different other species or organisms, is called the biological control and biocontrol. It depends on predation, herbivory,  parasitism or other natural processes, but usually also has an active role of humans in the management. It may be an essential part of IPM (integrated pest management) programs.

There are three fundamental strategies to avoid biological pests:

  • classical (importation) - where a natural enemy of the pest is introduced to control the pest.
  • inductive (augmentation) - which is used to rapidly control the pest through the application of large population of natural enemies.
  • inoculative (conservation) - through regular reestablishment of natural enemies to control the pest.

Natural enemies of the pests are predators, pathogens or competitors, which are also known as biological control agents.
