Foreshadowing is when the author gives the reader a hint to what is going to happen later on in the story . Foreshadowing can be talked about for a paragraph, or it will be mentioned in a sentence that can be easily missed. Some foreshadowing that is mentioned only once in sentence can only be caught by few readers. When foreshadowing is too obvious it makes predicting the ending of a story to easy and then less fun for the reader when they read the book. “I realized with a small shock, because his eyes were milky white. That’s strange, I thought . Grandpa Portman never mentioned that one of his neighbors was blind” ( page 32) This moment is the first time Jacob saw a wight. The reader can tell that this man is not just some neighbor, but instead something that was not completely human and something peculiar. …show more content…
