P1 - Outline the web architecture and components which enables internet and web functionality
Architecture
ISP
ISP stands for Internet Service Provider, hence the name, this allows users to gain access to the internet. Without this it won’t be possible to access the internet, also it wouldn’t be possible to upload or view web pages. There are several types of internet service providers, Dial up, DSL, Cable, WiFi access and Satellite. All these connections can be categorised in 2, owned by community or privately owned.
Uploading
Upload is the most important process for website creators, this is because ‘uploading’ means putting something up somewhere digitally. In this case uploading is the process of putting up web pages on a web server, uploading to web servers includes using smart FTP and FTP, this can be done by using a browser i.e Google. Since pictures and video file formats can’t be embed, it requires the user to upload them to a web server. By uploading web pages onto a web server allows people to visit the web site. A web server is a helpful tool which refers users to software or hardware, this can be used to help when using the internet.
World Wide Web
The world wide web is a place where documents are hyperlinked to the internet. Users can then view these documents, also known as web pages, by using web browsers such as Google Chrome. Also the word wide web is short for www., this is used when searching for any website.
Domain Name
This is the name users use
This lets people or/business’s design their own website over the internet. All companies that host a web supply data space on servers that is owned so that the clients can use it. As well as providing internet connection too. This is what some people also refer to it as a Data Centre. Also web hosts supply data spaces and connectivity for other things that are located in a Data Centre and web host can also maintain a website 24/7
A: Internet: Internet means the network of networks that connected to all networks around the world. For an instance, if you send an email or a message using your mobile phone, then your mobile phone uses internet.
The role of a web host is that they rent out space available on there servers by doing this this allows files to be connected to the internet they will only give you a set amount of space for a set fee this is used by thousands of people as it is not always possible to buy a server that can cost thousands of pounds
Internet Service Providers (IPS) – With IPS, they are companies that will measure the amount of data that you are sending through the internet, they basically give the users access to the internet in order to use it. A lot of IPS in our time will allow many ways to connect the user to the internet, the three main ways that are used are; Digital subscriber line (DSL), fibre optic, broadband, and many different ones in the world that allows people to use them. Examples of the service providers in the UK can be Virgin Media, Sky, and BT, that provides the customer with internet to their house through the routers,
ISP which is short for internet service provider is basically term which is used to define a company that provides a range of internet services including personal and business access to the Internet. The service provider will always give you a modem a username and password unique to the user and the user are usually charged for this monthly. There are many internet services provides and Examples of these providers include BT, virginmedia, sky ect.
Web hosting services provide space and bandwidth on the internet for people to make their websites available online. When a web page is requested the web host sends a web page to someone trying to access it via a server.
Since 1994, the REST architectural style has been used to guide the design and development of the architecture for the modern Web (Roy T. Fielding, 2000)
Internet is essentially a very large scale telecommunication system, which provides connectivity to millions of other smaller networks. Therefor internet at times is called network of networks. Internet allows communication of computers with each other, irrespective of location or time.
Before we can begin building web architecture, the system analyst would need to examine the needs of the organization and then develop a concise set of goals pertaining to the organization. However since, the old web site of the company is still running it would be prudent to know the technical and business related matters linked with the former website. On this same track we should also determine if the IT office for the company has the required experience and skill sets necessary for the execution of this project. The company might have to outsource for supplementary resources, training, and contracting consultants for the project’s success (Nelson et.al, 2010). The project should be developed on a modular manner, so users can test the
This lack of understanding causes fear and a personal defense from utilizing "the web" and all the possibilities that lie within it. In essence, the concept behind the World Wide Web is really quite simple. It is nothing more than "a community of information sites on the Internet computer network" (Pasadena Public Library). So basically, the World Wide Web is a small part of a greater entity—the Internet. The sites, or web pages, are all connected by this network and can be considered a community because of their common location-the World Wide Web. If you can visualize it, imagine a large network, the Internet, which connects people and information all over the world. Then imagine within that network, a community of its own. The World Wide Web has an endless number of sites, made of web pages, and all of which are connected through the Internet.
b. The purpose of ISPs…. An ISP (internet service provider) is an institution and its purpose is to provide assistance to individuals and groups that are accessing the internet. The more popular and bigger ISPs such as BT are less dependent on telecommunication providers as they have their own high speed connection and therefore are able to provide better assistance to their users.
The problem with IP addresses is that they are difficult to remember and computers convert them to binary anyway.
An internet service provider (ISP) is a service that provides access to the internet. They provide the user with services such as broadband and phone services. For a monthly price the user is provided with a router which they can then connect to either with a wired or wireless connection. An internet connection enables the user to connect many devices to the internet at the same time. The router and phone are normally plugged in to the same socket which then connects the router to the internet. Internet service providers may also provide the user with an e-mail address as a part of the service. Different providers offer different packages for different prices, for example some may have a capped usage which may be better for people who do not use the internet as much and would be able to save money by purchasing this. Different companies compete to gain more customers and will claim to have a higher upload and download rate than other companies. Also, usually a package with a higher upload and download speed will be more expensive.
These services allow people to make their website accessible via the internet. They provide servers to people to use for their website and they typically allocate a domain to individuals to use. However every host is only as good as the technologies it can provide to its customers.
This allows people or organizations to make and design their own website on the internet. All web host companies provide space on servers that is owned or leased for use by the clients. As well as providing internet connections. This is what they call a "Data Centre", web hosts also provide data spaces and connectivity for other services that are located in the Data Centre, and they may also maintain the day-to-day running of the website.
