The United States Postal Service has been struggling for due to the competition that is available for people to send their packages through other companies. Although, the revenue may have increased the financial state of the postal service is still at a significant lost. USPS needs to make changes in order to be better equipped to make important decisions and adjust practices to meet the demands of competition. By seeking answers from with the USPS organization instead outside the organizations from people that sit on committee and chair boards that do not understand the ins and outs of the postal service. For example, the Judicial Officer Department is a neutral, independent forum within the United States Postal Service comprised of the Judicial Officer, the Office of Administrative Law Judges, and the Postal Service Board of Contract Appeals (about.usps.com); these individuals cannot tell you the daily struggles of making sure everyone get their mail on time or what going on from location to location. These individuals can only make decision on what is presented to them. It would be only beneficial, if you had individual that can tell you what happens on a daily basis to know what process need to change and how it would benefit USPS. Many of problems derive from people trying to fix something that is not broken. It understood that someone may want to stream line things a little but they should always be some sort of pilot to see what works and do not. This way you will be able to cut cost and may even increase profits in doing that way. If I were the current CEO for the United States Postal Service, I would be gravely concerned about the future of my business, as it has recently taken a steep plummet from its success and popularity in the 19th and 20th centuries. To many individuals, this is traditionally seen as a bureaucratic problem; however, personally I do not believe that the problem is purely the result of public sector negligence. Like many government services, it is more likely that the answer lies in serious reform rather than complete suspension. Interestingly, I located an article about the nonprofit - National Academy of Public Administration – that suggested a kind of public/private hybrid approach to fix the USPS’s difficulties. The concept entails “farming out” much of the behind the scenes process while a federal letter carrier would still handle front-line delivery services.
