On February 28, 1993, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) raided the Branch Davidian ranch in Mount Carmel, a rural area near Waco, Texas. The raid resulted in the deaths of four agents and five Davidians. The subsequent 51-day siege ended on April 19 when the compound was completely consumed by fire killing seventy-five men, women, and children, including the leader David Koresh.
In 1929, Victor Houteff, a Bulgarian immigrant, claimed that he had a new message for the Seventh Day Adventist church. He submitted it to the church in the form of a book called "The Shepard's Rod". In the book he points out how the church has departed from basic church teachings. The churches leaders frowned upon his claims and felt that they

It was also at this time that Howell began calling himself David Koresh. From the beginning the group was an apocalyptic faith. This meant that they believed themselves to be living in a time when Christian prophesies of final divine judgment was coming. They believed that history would begin to spiral. History would repeat itself but it would also advance at the same time until the end. Koresh used the Book of Revelation as his evidence of the spiral.
In 1992 a Texas newspaper began to run investigative reports that Koresh was abusing children at the compound. Koresh openly advocated polygamy for himself and select members of the group. Koresh claimed to be married to several of the female group members. People outside of the group began claiming that they were a cult because of the authoritarian structure with Koresh being the all-powerful leader. It is said by some survivors that Koresh had at least a hundred and forty wives. He was also entitled to take any female at anytime. Allegations that he fathered at least a dozen children by his numerous wives began to arise in newspaper reports. Some of the wives were as young as twelve or thirteen years old.
Also in 1992 a UPS deliveryman alerted local sheriff deputies that objects similar to grenade casings were delivered to the compound. From there the sheriff notified the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, ATF for short, about the situation at the compound. The ATF began an investigation

In the novel The Chrysalids by John Wyndham it explains the life of a boy named David
As we examine the heroes of the faith outlined for us in the Old Testament, we would be hard pressed to find a more faithful man that King David. After the death of King Saul, David became the King of the Hebrew people. David, who was meek and pious, steadfastly believed in the true God and tried to do His will. He had endured much persecution from Saul and other enemies but did not become bitter, did not lift his hand against Saul, as he was the Lord’s anointed, but placed all his hope in God, and the Lord delivered him from all his enemies.
In the spring of 1993, the Branch Davidian Christian gained global infamy from this siege on its compound that laid a few miles just outside of Waco. On Sunday, February 28, a violent two hour gun battle took place leaving six Davidians and four ATF agents dead. A 51-day standoff ensued. Amid the siege, the Branch Davidians’ charismatic leader, Vernon Howell, a 33-year-old musician who believed himself to be the final prophet in Christian end-times
On Saturday, July 18, 2015, I was dispatched to 5108 Shady Bluff Street on a report of a Disturbance with a weapon call.
An adventure is defined as ‘a risky undertaking of unknown outcome’ which means that an adventurer is the one who gets a thrill out of exploits. David from the “Chrysalids” is mostly being described as an adventurous and independent child in the book. One example of him being called to an adventure is when David escapes during the night with his sister Petra to go meet up with Rosalind (Chapter 12, pg 123-124). What motivated David from the Chrysalids to escape with his little sister Petra was the fear of exile. This action makes David a hero because it shows that he is a caring and responsible, which makes mature enough to take care of himself. Another example of departure to adventure from David from “Steelheart” is when he takes the
Television reviews in the 1990s showed the deaths of more than 86 members of a religious group in Waco, Texas, known as the Branch Davidian. Texas served as a symbol of the then Attorney General Janet Reno’s bravery and heroic efforts after taking responsibility for the deaths. Most members of the Texas Parliament reaffirmed the notion that the leader of the religious sect, David Koresh, was mentally unstable and his followers willingly allowed themselves to be misled. However, was it necessary for the law enforcement agencies in Texas to massacre the members of the Branch Davidian cult? Was there another alternative for solving the issue?
On April 19, 1995, nearly one year after McVeigh formulated his plot to attack the federal building, he parked a Ryder truck filled with his homemade bomb, comprised of “ammonium nitrate fertilizer and gallons of fuel oil” in the front entrance to the building, and at 9:02 in the morning, he set off the explosion. Shortly after the employees arrived to work an explosion defaced the north section of the building, severely damaging the 10 stories that comprised the structure.
A central aspect of Koresh’s teachings was his assertion that the apocalyptic events predicted in the Bible’s
residents burned their trash rather than having it picked up,Also the CIA tracked one of his carriers that led them straight to the compound.Last, the compound was Surrounded by 12- to 18-foot walls topped by barbed wire, had 2 security gates, and the 3rd floor terrace had 7 a foot privacy wall.On May 2, 2011, A group of approximately 25 Navy Seals raided the compound in Abbottabad,Pakistan.
There have been many staues of David sculpted by famous artists like Donatello, Verrocchio, and Michelangelo. Bernini’s version of David and is about to begin his attack on Goliath, as he appears posing. The statue seems to be moving through space and the action suggests that the action of flinging the stone requires a lot of room around David. The statue forces the observer to look past the actual subject and focus more on the surroundings. He seems to have very muscular legs, and appears to be ready to turn and throw a stone from his sling. This is the most dramatic pose that Bernini could have picked and was chosen because it shows a sudden burst of energy and a moment of suspense as well. Bernini’s David is different from that of
Russell had no formal Bible training, but borrowed and built upon various teachings that were popular at the time. In 1879 Russell started his own magazine (now known as the Watchtower) to promote his doctrines. Russell’s sensational end of time predictions drew many people and the organization grew. An example of this would be Russell’s prediction that in 1874 the second coming of Christ would come. This prediction he borrowed from N. H. Barbour who believed that Christ would return invisibly to the work in 1874 and that 1914 was the year the world would be destroyed and the Millennium would begin. The Millennium is a 1,000-year period, beginning after Armageddon, when Christ will rule over the earth. During this time, the dead will be resurrected, humankind will attain perfection and paradise will be restored. Russell wrote a new Bible for the followers of his day, which he claimed came to him directly from God. Russell claimed that to read and understand the Bible you needed an interpreter. He claimed to be the only one with the truth and outwardly condemned all other Christian religions. This caused other ministers to work at exposing Russell’s
King David proved to be a wise and effective leader for Israel. However, it can be said that his son, Solomon, made several mistakes during his reign. Many of his problems originated from his Temple, a stucture that was conceptualized by his father to be a deterrent against the paganism, which infested the land. Yet, it seemed as if several of Solomon’s policies actually encouraged paganism rather than deter it.
The New Testament portion of the Bible is widely accepted as the book of hope, grace, love and forgiveness. However, the Old Testament also provides evidence of God’s grace and love for his people. Richard Dawkins opposes this view of the Old Testament God .Richard Dawkins in his book, The God of Delusion states that the God of the Old Testament is a God who is unjust, unforgiving, and vindictive amongst many other negative human nature attributes. Richard Dawkins view of God in the Old Testament is far from a God of grace and love. The God of the Old Testament is a God who desires to have a relationship with his people .God created covenant relationships throughout the Old Testament, starting with Adam and Eve, then
