The 3 Branches of the American Government
The constitution was established by men who had experienced the dictatorships of Europe and had escaped from its grasp. They sought to establish a form of government that would never allow a dictatorship or tyrant ruler to hold power over the people like in the places they had fled. With their creation of the foundation of what our government is today they created a system where 3 branches were all of equal power and each could be overruled by another which prevented any branch becoming superior of another. The separation of powers provides a system of shared power called Checks and Balances.(2) The three branches are legislative, judicial and executive and they each have specific powers to

These 435 seats are divided among the states every ten years. Representatives serve for two years at a time, and every second November there is a new election where they are chosen by the people in a direct election. (1) The House is required to choose a Speaker for itself who is in charge over the proceedings of the House and is the highest position in the House leadership. Other leadership positions are the Majority and Minority Leaders, and the Majority and Minority Whips. The Minority Leader would generally be the Speaker if his party were the majority.(1) The whips act as a median between the leadership and the other House members. The Senate is the Upper House and its members are called Senators. The qualifications for Senators are similar to those of house representatives, he or she must be 30 years old or older, must have been a U.S. citizen for nine years, and must live in the state they plan to represent. There is again no restriction of sex, race, class, social standing, or any other classification, for both a Senator or House representative . Each state has two Senators, no matter what the size of the state happens to be. A Senators term lasts six years and like the other house members every second November there is a new election. The Vice President of the United States is the President of the Senate but he is a non-voting member unless a vote of the Senate ends in a tie which causes him to cast the deciding vote. If the Vice President is not available
The government of the United States of America is a federal constitutional republic. In layman 's terms, this means that the country 's national, central government and the smaller, unitary governments of the fifty states are co-equal in their power, and that the citizens of America have a say in public policies by electing representatives who voice their respective opinions. More importantly, both the central government and the state governments are subject to the supreme law of the Constitution. Under this document, the central government is set up into three branches (the legislative, executive, and judicial) that are meant to check each other and balance out power. Their cooperation insures that the national government 's control is appropriate, and does not infringe upon the rights of the average American citizen.

The first way the Constitution guards against tyranny, is separation of power. The framers of the constitution knew people would be worried about a very strong central government, they devised a plan to separate and distribute its powers into three main branches. The first branch is the legislative branch, this branch has a congress which is divided in two. The two parts of the congress are the House Of Representatives and the Senate. The legislative branch has the power to make laws, and propose new bills and taxes. The next branch is the Executive branch, which executes or enforces laws, and includes the president. More things the branch does is making treaties and granting pardons. The third and final branch is the Judicial branch, the law interpreting branch. Not only does the branch interpret laws, but it also includes the supreme court. By separating power into three branches, allows not one group or person to have power. Having branches also makes them work together to do
I believe that the author started the book by explaining that most people were not ready to call themselves Americans in order to show the audience how people living in former British colonies considered their home colonies as its own country or nation and did not want to be connected to the others in any way. I could use this point as a way to activate background knowledge when first reading this book with my students to understand their meaning of the U.S. Constitution.
The Separation of Powers formulated by the composers of the Constitution was intended to do one essential thing: to keep the greater part from ruthless control. In light of their experience, the designers shied far from giving any branch of the new government a lot of power. The separation of power gives an arrangement of shared force known as Checks and Balances. The three Branches that are created in the Constitution are the Legislatives (consisted of House and Senate), the Executive (consisted of the President, Vice President, the Departments), and the Judicial (consisted of Federal and Supreme Court). These plans have shaped how the way the government is and how they form the three branches of our government and how Congress is formed.

There are three branches within the federal government. Each distinct from the other yet all acting together for the benefit of the public and the country. The government consists of a legislative branch, known as Congress, an Executive branch headed by the President, and a Judicial branch consisting of many different courts but most known by its highest court, the Supreme Court. The Constitution provides for checks and balances among these branches of government as well as amongst the various other levels of government by giving each branch distinct powers to counter one another at various stages of government. Executive power is entrusted to the office of the President of the United States.
When the Government created the three branches of government, the delegates built the “check and balance" system into the Constitution.
