Why Teen Parenting should be delayed?
Raising a child isn't an easy thing to do. Raising a child while the parents are still in their teens is even harder. Dealing with the day to day chores that involves a baby and trying to work and get an education is very stressful on any teen.
Teen Parenting should be delayed because it is very difficult to handle, some can’t handle it. One of my friends is a teen mom, and she wouldn't wish a teen pregnancy on any teen. Trying to work, go to school, raise a baby and still having some growing up to do is nowhere near easy. Dealing with a checkbook, a husband, a newborn, a job and finishing school at sixteen was hard. But she managed, just like many other teen moms but she do wish things could have

Often the mom will realize he isn't the best person in the world to be a dad, so she doesn't push the issue. Child support is a problem, since most young dads, like the mom, are still in school or not making very much at work. There are some great teen dads out there but unfortunately, they are few and far between.
If the mom decides to stay with her parents, she deals with relationship issues on this front too. All to often grandparents want to take over. How can they not? It's extremely hard to step back and let your teen parent another child while you know they're so young, especially if the parenting styles they have aren't what the grandparents practiced on their own children. Babysitting, parenting styles, doubting the ability of the teen. All these can truly affect a teen mom in a negative way.
Finishing school and working to support a baby is also a big problem. In today's world, a college degree is almost a must for any good paying job. A high school education is even more important. If a teen mom still has to go to school and work, she has very little time to be a mother. The worst part of it all, is that usually, that's what a teen mom really wants to be. Most teen moms don't want to be part of the statistics. They don't want to be looked down on. They do want to take care of their child, or children, in hopes that they grow up to be strong people. They also want to show the world that they can be a good parent. It's just too bad that society
In the early 20th Century, teen pregnancy was the norm. Women were lucky to get an education past the eighth grade and they married and began their own families by their mid-teens. As higher education became available to more women, they began to start their families later in life. This quickly became the accepted practice. By the 1950s, parents were encouraging their daughters to stay in school and to not marry until after graduation. By this time, young women were looking toward an education beyond high school. Now, in the 21st Century, any teen pregnancy is frowned upon. Parents want their daughters to enjoy all the benefits of higher education before they begin their families. These young women strive to begin their careers before they have children so that they are focused on their
Becoming a parent is not an easy task no matter how old you or your partner are. Having children at a young age might sound like a good idea for many teenage girls but they aren’t aware of the consequences that come with it. You must be prepared financially to be able to support a family.
Coming from a family where almost all of the women were teen moms, it is normal to think that I should follow the same path. But I honestly don’t see any reasons of why I should. Seeing all of this teen moms around me, having kids before they were able to figure out
According to the CDC (2017), the teen pregnancy rate in the United States is substantially higher than in other western industrialized nations. In addition, childbearing adolescents are less likely to finish high school, more likely to rely on public assistance, more likely to be poor as adults, and more likely to have children similarly affected, which consequentially affects the parents themselves, their children, and society (U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Adolescent Health [USHHS/OAH], 2014). Alarming statistics and factual information like this clearly indicate that there is a serious issue for the nation to address. Therefore, an excellent point that was mentioned, and one that I would like to expand upon is
The number of teen pregnancies keeps getting higher and higher as the years go by. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, nearly 800,000 women under the age of 20 have gotten pregnant. Although it has declined, the rate of teen pregnancies in the United States is the highest of all the nations. It is degraded by society in most places and there is a stereotype that those who become pregnant always drop out of school and ruin their future and career goals. In some places people think it would be better for teen moms to not go back to school. Teen moms have the right to an education just like everybody else. Although it is hard for teens to keep getting an education and pursuing a career, it should still be an option and can be done with
Teens can't handle the responsibility of being a mother or father at a young age considering job are only paying minimum wage. Some teens say they feel mature or responsible enough to raise a child. The cost of raising a child
There is no doubt that raising a child while essentially still being one is no easy task. There are so many things to worry about. Things like if both parents will raise the child or a single parent, who will pay the hospital bills, where the baby supplies will be coming from, health insurance, and in some cases a home to live in. Sure there is the option of adoption but that not being a popular alternative, these questions need to be addressed. “Teen childbearing costs U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars due to lost tax revenue, increased public assistance payments, and greater expenditures for public health care, foster care, and criminal justice services” (Teen Pregnancy and Childbearing. (n.d.). Retrieved December 2, 2014, from http://www.hhs.gov/ash/oah/adolescent-health-topics/reproductive-health/teen-pregnancy/). Because teen pregnancy often leads to higher dropout rates, teen parents often do not have the skills to obtain a stable carrier. As a result these families tend to have significantly less income compared to other teens who graduated high school and went and got a college education. This, as you would expect, leads to more government assistance to help support the child and as a result, higher taxes for everyone. “In 2013, almost 275,000 babies were born to teen girls between the ages of 15 and 19” (Teen Pregnancy and Childbearing. (n.d.). Retrieved December 2, 2014, from http://www.hhs.gov/ash/oah/adolescent-health-topics/reproductive-health/teen-pregnancy/). Teen parents are also at higher risk to fall into poverty. The number of children being born to teen parents is decreasing as a steady rate, and this is mostly due to the brilliant effects of contraception. “Between 1991 and 2013, the teen birth rate decreased by more than half in the United
Don’t get me wrong, teen pregnancy can help develop responsibility and help you grow up with your child but most affects are negative.
I originally wrote this essay as an assignment for Monique DuFour's class about how we classify different groups of people. I think that the part of the student population that are parents (especially single parents) are often forgotten by the University as a whole. I say this because there are very few, if any, programs that recognize and cater to the needs of parents/students that may need a little extra help, with time or financially. As I revised this essay, I tried to think of ways that I could speak to a larger audience and raise general awareness on this issue.
Every parent has his own personal philosophy of child rearing. Many issues are controversial because there are supporting facts to both opinions. One major issue in today’s society is whether to breast or bottle feed an infant. Another difficult issue is how to discipline a child. Some parents believe that spanking in certain situations is acceptable, and some view it as child abuse. Many parents believe religion is an essential part of growing into a moral person, and many do not. Family meals are important to some families, and unnecessary to others. Another big controversy is placing a child in daycare. Some couples believe it is completely wrong for the mother to work outside the home. Other couples say that without two incomes, they
Young teens have a lot of support, though they live in poverty they have welfare, family, They also still can make it to get a career things aren’t as hard as it seems. They can say that they are more likely to be poor as adults and more likely to have children who have poorer educational, behavioral, and health outcomes over the course of their lives than do kids born to older parents, but that isn’t true at all. Teen pregnancy does not mean that they felt that this part of their life was over in fact most of them were positively realizing they have responsibilities, so they had to get their future career ready.
Besides the socioeconomic issues that arise, there are also the physiological issues. There is a risk to the children born of teen mothers, the children are “more likely, than any other children, to have low birth rate, putting them at greater risk of dying as infants and developing blindness, deafness, mental and respiratory problems, and cerebral palsy” (Abstinence-Only Education: Are abstinence-only sex education courses effective?, 2014). However, the child is not the only one who could possibly suffer, teen mothers are susceptible to “ailments such as hypertension and anemia” (Abstinence-Only Education: Are abstinence-only sex education courses effective?, 2014). Teen mothers are also less likely than older mothers to receive the proper preparental care and less likely to gain the right amount of weight during the pregnancy. With that being said, shouldn’t our top priority be finding a way to lessen the amount of teen pregnancies in the U.S? What better way to do so by teaching youths the proper way to go about sex and how to be safe.
In 2015, there was a huge problem that broke out all over the united states that over 200,000 girls gave birth between the age of 15-19(CDC). First, there are many problems with this statistic because there are so many girls having their young teen years skipped and jumping right towards parenthood. The big issue seen around the united states is that with these unplanned babies some mothers will drop out of high school. Sadly, this will end of resulting in a huge life change and lead them down a very long road ahead without graduating high school and getting their diploma. Even though, some of the mothers go back to school their lives will never be the same. Also, many understand that the teen moms are the ones being directly affected. However, the indirectly affected are the families of their teenager who was pregnant. This is a very stressful time for the parents and this adds to them getting very angry with their children which may result in them kicking them out or for some help their child raise a baby. It is a very stressful thing and the families start to become overwhelmed with their teenage daughter whose pregnant and few become depressed because they feel that their life raising was a fail.
Many teens in the United States are facing teen pregnancy. Teenage pregnancy has become a major problem in America over the years. Birthrates around the world are increasing dramatically and we need to put a stop to it, or we will become overcrowded. I personally have friends that will soon be teen mothers. I strongly disagree with their choices because now they will have a harder time trying to get into college. Not only is having a child at such a young age life-changing for the mother, it could result in premature babies and birth defects. I believe that this problem could be prevented if all teenage girls had to be put on the pill by law when they start to become sexually active.
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be a teen parent? Have You ever thought about how different life would be with a child? Being a teen parent means changing your life, because now it is up to you to change the life of your little one.
