Success Essay : The Meaning Of Success

Success is a word that really hard to define, because everyone will have a different definition for this word. In fact, there no exact definition for the word "success". For a student, maybe the success means to pass all courses of the semester; for a business man, signing a importance contract and get a lot of money are successes; and for a president, leading the country to develop and make the people have a better life are success. For me, I also have my own definition for the word "success". When I was a kid, I really want to be a scientist, but after I become mature, my thinking has become more mature and my definition of success also

I define success as trying you're hardest no matter what and persevering through everything that you try. You may not get through the problem that you are having. Even though you didn't complete the challenge that you were having if you got as much out of the task that was placed in front of you, then you have succeeded. I also define success as when you set a goal for you're self or someone else sets a goal for you. If you reach that goal or go above that goal that was set, then you have succeeded. I believe that success is not just finishing you're work, test or challenge, if you finish it but do not do you're best and try you're hardest, then I believe that you are not successful in what you just did, but if you go as hard as you can, not

There are many different understandings of what success is. Some relate success to money, others relate success to happiness, but it all depends on the type of person.

The meaning of "success" has numerous interpretations, whether it is your own or society's definition. Within Outliers author Malcolm Gladwell explains that being successful has nothing to do with what kind of person you are, so whether you are intelligent and hardworking or lazy and aloof, it depends on your circumstances growing up. Whether your parents happen to be immigrants, you are one of the smartest men in the country or you make a habit of practicing an activity for a certain amount of hours a day, your own personal success, according to Gladwell is defined by the conditions you grew up in; the idea of being successful varies from culture to culture, therefore, there is no definite meaning of success other than one's interpretation.

Before success, there is always a process in which you first start with. Many people start after acknowledging a moment in their life that motivates them to do more. Many of these successful people come from a variety of unique backgrounds and a lot of them from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as poverty, a single-parents’ household, or even abusive parents. These causes, however do more than inspire themselves, but others who see their success story. This results in a way where it gives people a change of mindset to prove those people wrong and move on from that disadvantaged background. Another thing that can come from this is the support of others and being able to create new and healthy relationships with others who would help lead them to success. I see

Americans tend to define success by money, and what money can possibly buy. We judge off of popularity and social status. If you're not rich or in a major well known business or high paying job you're a failure. An antonym of success is unprofitable, according to Roget's Thesaurus of Words for Intellectuals. Three synonyms for success that caught my eye were moneymaking, hardworking and wealth. Gladwell states in his book Outliers that, “Success is a function of persistence and doggedness and the willingness to work hard for 22 minutes to make sense of something that most people would give up on after 30 seconds.” ( Gladwell 127) Thus meaning that you must work towards success.

In his poem, “What is Success,” Ralph Waldo Emerson gave priceless insight when he wrote:

For some people, success is simply living well. For others, it is as simple as achieving a goal they have set for themselves. To me, success is a combination of both achieving goals and living a fulfilling life. Financial success allows for careless actions. Social success brings about happiness.

The definition of success is "the accomplishment of an aim of purpose" which can make the outlook on this word different for every individual. Success is expressed in many different ways, but society tells us throughout our childhood that to be considered successful we need to grow up and make lots of money or own the nicest things. This may not always be the case and different people with unlike images of success will argue that. Success is achieving desired goals for oneself or gaining lifetime comfort.

What is success? Is it the process of doing a task and receiving a positive result acceptable amongst the community, or is it simply achieving ones own personal goals? Success to me can mean many things. Although I am successful in school, that does not necessarily mean I will lead a successful life.

As an eighteen year old, the term of success has been used in many different contexts. Although, we tend to define success as a person who has made millions or someone who has broken down barriers for the next generation, however, have we been leaving out the most important part of success? Does being successful guarantee your happiness? Does it replace those lonely nights? Does success replace those sleepless nights? Does it replace the friends you have lost along your path? In my opinion, it does not. Success cannot be determined merely based off of comparisons with another person. In fact, I am a firm believer in do what makes you happy because everyone else is temporary in our lives. My definition of success is based on self happiness because if you cannot be happy with yourself how can you bless others?

Most people commonly describe success, as being wealthy in life. This is not the meaning entirely, the definition of success is simple. A person is successful, if he or she has very good payment at his or her work and if he or she is happy with the job, they are doing. Education really leads to success. If a person has good education, he or she can choose their careers and be successful at it. Education is a form of learning in which the knowledge and skills is being transferred from a group of people to another or from a generation to the next, through teaching and training. Success is to fulfil a goal that you have set for yourself. Achievement of success involves five components: realisation, confidence, motivation, action and perseverance. Step one is to realise your goal and how to achieve it. Step two is to have the confidence to take the steps towards your goal. Step three is to find motivation to keep you on the path towards you goal. Step four is action, the first physical step you take in the process for success. Step five is perseverance. On the road to success, you will most definitely come to setbacks and struggles. The only way to conquer those things and achieve your goal is to have strong perseverance.
