Although, at first glance one may believe that the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Rights of Men are similar if not the same there are also differences broadening from the actual text in these documents to the experiences in these countries at the time. Although geographically France and the United States are far from each other their situation was similar. Furthermore, the revolution in France, America , and even Haiti had an impact in the creation of these documents and the purpose they were to serve. The revolution in America was due to the fact that the colonies did not want to pay higher tax revenues. They felt that they did not have representation in the British parliament, these led to America wanting independence from Britain.
