Science, Technology and America’s Military When it comes to the latest and fastest computers there is one place that all that technology can be found, the United States Military. There is no doubt that the U.S. Military is one of, if not the most technologically advanced armed forces in the world. “Over our countries development we have changed from a “grind it out” fighting machine, to a more advanced, rapid tactical corps to meet the different battle situations found in today’s world.”[1] This transformation has taken place largely in the last century with the advancement of computer technology helping to reshape the battle field to our advantage. Our nation is constantly looking for the advantage during conflict, and for …show more content…
The simulators used today are extremely accurate as to the limitations of people and equipment, and as advances in technology improve so do the simulators, as they become more and more realistic. Computer game technology is also responsible for these improvements; today’s video game consoles have many times the computing power than the military’s simulators a few years ago.2 The army has even developed its own video game based on the simulators it uses for combat training. Americas Army is more than just a shoot-em-up game; it is built to portray a real soldiers life, everything from basic training to choosing a career. According to one of the games designers, Lt. Col. Casey Wardynski, the game took over two years and around $8 million dollars (USD) to develop, but the main point of the game is education of real Army life, and is said to be the most realistic game ever developed. Simulators cannot however depict every aspect of military life, dealing with other team members, salty commanders, and there is nothing to simulate being cold, tired and hungry at the end of the day. All in all however, simulators are a vital part of today’s military training and operations. In the near future, if it is not already possible, I would not be surprised if a simulator can be developed for any situation by simply inputting a given situation, and the soldiers will be able to use the simulator before going into the actual combat situation.
Technology and weapons in wars since the Civil War have been progressing each and every day since then. There has been a number changes both good and not so good that has affected how our countries military forces react to the battle field. The advancements that has been made over the many years have killed millions and millions of people during time at war. Since the American Civil War there has been drastic changes to how war that have been fought. Why has technology in war been so important and helpful to us but at the same time been so devastating or us? Wars have also been started because of a new technology and using an antidote to those technologies have brought victory.
I completely agree with you that using simulation devices to train soldiers and police officers is a great technological solution to the country. By creating real simulations of the battle field, the soldiers are effectively trained to handle any kind of situation. This is the technology that is used to train the best of the best Navy seals and it can be expanded to train the whole military.
For the purpose of imitating the real emergency situations, the technical ability of simulation has been continuously upgraded by advanced computer programming or by artificially standardized human behavior. The computer-assisted mannequins are even able to “communicate”, “talk” and provide various reactions and interactions by using predetermined language and settings. However, despite that sophisticated high-tech programming brings convenience during the course of learning, practice and performance evaluation, the author points out that such normative approach cannot be qualified as any paradigm for real practice since preprogrammed language cannot predict real human thoughts and behaviors.
From the earliest recorded history, humans have waged war upon one another. To conquer and expand their empires, military leaders have experimented with hundreds upon hundreds of tactics and theories about how to wage these wars. The United States Army has refined and crafted the science of warfare and the art of leadership, designing six ‘warfighting functions’ that interrelate with each other. These warfighting functions shape the way an United States Army Officer plans for combat. The six warfighting functions are Mission Command, Movement and Maneuver, Intelligence, Fires, Sustainment, and Protection. The use of these functions can be directly related to the success of many victories the United States has seen, not only on the War level, but also for specific battles. In researching the Siege of Yorktown, it is clear to see that these warfighting functions were key to the victory of the siege. This decisive victory legitimized the then freshly founded United States of America.
There were 15 different types of simulated attacks that played throughout the years. A 10-kiloton improvised nuclear device, explosives attack, biological attacks – anthrax, influenza, and plague, food contamination, and foreign animal disease (zoonotic); chemical attacks of blister agent, toxic industrial chemicals, nerve agent, and chlorine attacks; natural disasters (earthquake and hurricane); radiological attack, and a cyber-attack (“A Review”, 2005, p. 6).
Leaders must guide the order and new situations. Manpower is minimized by cutbacks and deployments. Technology is the new era. The technology is mixed with innovative ways to use in war.
Since I find railroading operations interesting I play this highly physics and operations based train simulator called run8. Part of the game is where you can play on multiplayer and simulate prototypical operations with other people on a multiplayer
1. Purpose: To provide information regarding the transitions of the United States Army on the Battlefield, utilizing Field Manual 100-5 and Army Doctrinal Publication 3-0.
Prior to visiting the simulator my two expectations, Were that I would learn how to properly evacuate in aircraft in an emergency situation, whether it be landing or ditching. Another expectation of mine was that I would get the experience of sliding down an emergency slide.
And are these games really just simulations of real-life? This would make sense since games now have real-life applications and implications. But all things considered, the difference between a “game” and a “simulation” is arbitrary and based strictly on one’s definition of each term. If the difference relies on how realistic the game is in its mechanics and play style, then Call of Duty might as well be called a combat simulator. Does a VR set such as the Oculus Rift—along with the still-in-development rifle-shaped controller and multi-direction gaming treadmill—automatically turn a game into a simulation? Perhaps every game is a low-stakes simulation of its real life counterparts. Pit, then, is a non-digital, non-profit simulation of stock market trading…that is, of course, unless one started playing for money. Then, does the inclusion of money turn a game into a simulation, or even into work? These terms are debatable. What is clear is the driving factor behind why games are made—beyond artistic expression, though not mutually exclusive of it, is the desire for profit.

Importance of Realistic Tactics Training Drills, tactics, and training are critical to cohesion on the battle field. During the First World War it was realized that combat performance could be significantly improved by mission-specific rehearsal. Here the troops prepared in detail for the particular tasks which they expected to meet. The modern battlefield posed serious coordination problems for assaulting troops. Where infantry had previously been able to simply advance together behind their leader against normally very obvious objectives, with flags and banners often helping to maintain cohesion, troops were now dispersed and hidden from each other, attacking camouflaged positions which it was very difficult to discern.
Performance of our group in simulation was well. It is about the price of the console, subsidizes of game titles and the percentage of royalty needs to changed keeping in mind other criteria to see the variations while entering different values. All the members in the team participated actively and coordination among the team members was excellent which led to the successful completion of this assignment and they come to know how to take decisions in the real world simulation. In this game we achieved the profit of 4.6B and ranked in top among entire class.
With Black Ops 2 however, it is more of an arcade shooter and less of a simulation. What I mean by this is that it is supposed to be very fast and easier to pick up the basics to be good at the game. This game also is very
As the future of warfare becomes more sophisticated, what will be the military technology of tomorrow? The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, believes that there are three possible answers to that question: nuclear warfare, biological/chemical warfare, or cyber warfare. While nuclear and biological warfare is conducted on a battlefield, cyber warfare operates via the Internet and computers. All of these weapons have the same destructive potential, but the circumstances surrounding
