Regrettably, Country sounds more like Hip Hop, Americana and Blues are considered Rock sound eerily similar to Country, and what’s worse Gwen Stefani New Live Video was no more than a advertising vehicle to promote Target. However, with a new year brings new hope and reflection as well to delve into the past. How poignant to rewind back 20 years to 1996. Let’s look back at the year in music for 1996. Stemming from English bands such as The Sex Pistols, Black Sabbath and The Clash, the idea of using punk music as a platform for social justice was one adopted by many American bands. Inspired by their messages of social responsibility, American musicians like Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Bad Religion, Stick to Your Guns and Anti-Flag followed suit and made music to demand change. These bands would go on to make music expressing political views, encouraging the teens and young adults listening to think for themselves rather than accept the status quo of their government systems.

I think this is why people think metal is satanic phenomenon in these four points. One: Musiclily, metal sounds more angry. Two: Lyrically, metal is critical and yes, satanic (some). Three: Historically, metal music is founded by eccentric people (“a person of unconventional and slightly strange views or behavior.”)- Dictionary.com. And finally Four: Visually, metal musicians may not look like humans. Just look at Black Metal Musicians. But I feel like people's reactions has not changed much since Deep Purple announced their band in 1968. Us humans are not good with change, I think we just like to argue and fight about random stuff. But we should be more open to new stuff and give it a chance, I really think Metal is an important phenomenon because it could make any outcast get out there and talk to people, because metal does not have much of a crowd unlike Nicki Minaj or Drake, anyone can listen to them and fit in but metal is an outcast phenomenon, so everyone that is an outcast can connect with other outcast. If i could really change anything about others views about metal, I would inform them that only three fourths of metal bands are against satan, and they only satanic sounding music because metal is a dark phenomenon and that's what

Since about the age of 13 I have been a devout metalhead. Having seen everyone from Black Sabbath to Rob Zombie to Slayer live in concert I can tell you that within the culture of heavy metal fans there exist striking differences when you start examining sub-genres. However, there are many elements of the Heavy Metal culture that appear to be universal.

As is the Case with its metaphorical brother, heavy metal, punk is a genre of music that is thoroughly entwined with philosophies. From Johnnies Ramone to Rotten, Spanning across oceans and throughout various different nations, many disgruntled youth and those tired with an unfair system have flocked to the then burgeoning culture, allowing for it to grow exponentially into something far greater. Thus, due to it establishing a firmly anti-establishment view, creating an entirely new culture for an entire generation, and changing the face of music, punk has become one of, if not the most, prolific genres of music of all time.

Metal music: Noise pollution of today Metal music is a genre of rock music that developed in the late sixties and early seventies. It is characterized by its loud distorted guitars, dense bass and drum sound and vigorous vocals. Because of its different and a bit aggressive sound, metal music is not everyone's cup of tea. Sadly, metal community is often faced with a lot of stereotypical opinions.

Metal is known for its heavy sound of amplified impairment and long guitar solos, all in all known for having a overall LOUD sound. Metal has 3 important harmonic models, “modal scale, Tritone and Chromatic. Likewise metal is well known for using pedal points for a long period of time, all of these gives metal that unique sound. Some other things that makes metal different is that its main rhythmic figures are two- note or three- note mostly in the 8th or 16th notes. Lastly Metal songs are known for usually using longer notes such as whole notes or dotted quarter note length chords. In the past metal had a slower tempo of sixty beats per minute but now the tempo can go up to 350 beats per minute.

In the 70s and 80s punk music emerged. It was a style that was derived from rock music, and similarly to rock, it defied hierarchies. However, punk rock defied hierarchies in a more extremist level than how rock did it, it promoted anarchy, which means that it was against any type of government (Davies 1-2), Most people can probably recognize the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the Ramones, as the most popular bands. The Sex Pistols only lasted three years as a band and recorded only one album, but they are the ones that caused a bigger impact, since they were the personification of punk rock. For example, the Sex Pistols protested against the Queen of England in many of their songs. In the 90s punk evolved into other styles, such as alternative and grunge, that still hold liberal ideals but not as extremist as punk rock. In the 00s and present society musicians still use their music as a way of protest of towards authority, voicing and uniting the oppressed. But even though they do support similar ideals, they don 't express them at with the same aggressiveness and extremism that punk rock possessed.
