Abstract
Over the past several years, scientists have researched the impact fossil fuels currently have on our world today. These sources of energy have an irreversible and devastating consequence on our environment. Fossil fuels are disliked due to being non-renewable and unsustainable. As more technological advancements have occurred, more efforts have arisen related to replacing fossil fuels with renewable sources of energy. Due to the integration of existing technology the public has become reluctant to adopt new energy technologies. Renewable energy brings many desirable health, environmental, and economic benefits. These renewable methods may ultimately provide a brighter future for generations to come.
Replacing Fossil Fuels with Renewable Energy
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (2015) reports that the United States consumed approximately 19.4 million barrels of petroleum products daily, which calculated to an overall total of 7.08 billion barrels by the end of 2015 (para. 2). The United States population consumes a huge quantity of oil alone, in addition to all of the other fossil fuels that it also greatly depends on. Fossil fuels are a natural resource that is in limited supply, and they provide an efficient and consistent supply of power to communities all over the planet. Many people are pleased with the short-term advantages these
These sources of energy have a great upside, but right now are incredibly inefficient compared with fossil fuels because of the lack of funding and worldly push (2009). If there isn’t a bigger investment in these alternative energies, fossil fuels are going to maintain their stranglehold on all the economies of the world (Lomborg, 2009).
The multi-billion dollar gas industry is seeking to expand its production across the nation, in light of new technology making extracting natural gas much easier. A Healthy alternative to the fossil fuels we so frivolously use is now more critical than ever. In 2011, the United States used 18.83 million barrels of raw oil daily, and in 2010 19.18 million barrels of petroleum products and biofuels. In 2010 and 2011, that was nearly 22% of the world’s oil supply. (U.S Department of Energy)
Petroleum is a nonrenewable resource created from deceased prehistoric animal and plant remains. This is accomplished over millions of years, in which variables of heat and pressure cause the remains to be transformed into hydrocarbons. The United States depends on oil for around 36% of its energy demand, of this about 71% is directed to transportation, 24% to manufacturing and industrial applications, 5% to commercial and residential areas. An interesting fact is that even though oil and gas are seen to dominate the transportation areas, they only represent a less than one percent stake in the generation of energy.
Renewable energy should replace fossil fuels because they are cleaner. Fossil fuels are well known to poison the Earth. They may seem like a solution to our energy needs but they are doing more harm than good. Even though they are so toxic to the Earth we still have a while until we can completely switch to clean energy. “The
Eight-four percent, 84% of energy used globally comes from fossil fuels. These include oil, natural gas, coal and nuclear energy. All of which are very pollutive and are nonrenewable resources. You can see how this would be a problem for us as a species and our survival. For something that we rely on so heavily for food, medicine, government and so many other important things. I had to know what scientists were doing to further their research on separating themselves from something we've relied on since we discover how to harness power itself. i as well as many others understand It's time for us as humans to further our evolution and develop cleaner, more powerful energy so I set out to find the best energy alternatives and highlight what
Gasoline prices are a fast, never-ending rollercoaster in the middle of the night: unpredictable, wavering and impactful. With control of these prices through future market contracts, the petroleum industry seems to have significant influence on the U.S. economy. Private corporate oil companies yield some of the greatest power on the planet, but will face a major dilemma in the near future when the last of this finite, nonrenewable resource left on earth is gone. Oil is the most valued commodity across the world and has been for decades. Yet, this precious resource is far from satisfactory in meeting moderate standards for eco-friendliness and efficiency. The burning of crude oil produces dangerous levels of
Fossil fuels, the main fuel for firing power stations for electricity, heating homes, and providing fuel for transport, have been used for many years. Despite their relative inexpensiveness, fossil fuels have major drawbacks. They introduce a myriad of negative implications including environmental degradation, global warming, acid rain, health problems, and ecosystem destruction. Even though fossil fuels are cheaper today than renewable sources of energy, it is well worth spending the extra money on these more environmentally friendly types of energy. After all, who wants to live on an unhealthy planet?
Renewable energy is currently one of the most preferred energy sources worldwide. Over the past few decades, there has been a raging debate on the capacity of renewable energy to meet the needs of the society. Despite the fact that it has public backing and several benefits over other sources of energy such as fossil fuels, renewable technologies is still doubted by scientists. Being characterised as a type of energy that cannot meet the energy needs of the
The U.S. should replace fossil fuel with renewable energy. There are many reasons that the U.S. can use renewable energy to improve the economy. First of all, renewable energy can have a more stable price. Unlike fossil fuel, renewable energy is a continual source of energy that will not be as demanded, and will not cause inflation. Next, using renewable energy is a key to having a clean and green environment. It will not cause pollution to the environment and will keep cities clean. Finally, the United States can provide more efficient jobs for unemployed workers. People will have more opportunities for jobs like installing or building any source of renewable energy. Replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy can be more efficient because it will have a stable expense, it is a clean way to help the environment, and it can provide several jobs.
Renewable energy is not only viable, but an extremely beneficial alternative to fossil fuels. Sources such as solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, hydro, and ocean energy are found in abundance and are naturally replaced, and therefore are more feasible to use than fossil fuels. The use of sustainable energy will not harm the planet or our atmosphere. In addition to this, the growth of the renewable energy industry is sure to create jobs, especially when taking into consideration the lack of mechanization involved in clean energy technology. It is for these reasons that renewable energy should replace fossil fuels.
Over the past few years, energy consumption and sustainability have become a major concern to many industrialized countries across the globe. These countries still depend on burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas to produce most of the energy they need. According to the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA), fossil fuels made up 81.5% of total U.S. energy consumption in the year 2015. The issue arises when you consider that these resources are finite and will run out eventually, leaving a big problem for future generations to address. Another complication involves the fact that our dependence on fossil fuels is having a negative impact on the environment. Human activity, more specifically, the burning of limited resources to drive cars, generate electricity, and operate our homes is the primary cause of global warming (“Concerned Scientists”). As we begin to understand climate change better, many countries are turning to renewable energy sources in an attempt to reduce their carbon footprint. Some examples include the installation solar panels and wind turbines, as well as building dams that produce hydropower. I believe that we must work together and embrace these new, alternative sources of energy in order to preserve a healthy environment.
Can renewable sourves of energy effecticely replace fossil fuels? Is the question of the century.the answer to this question could profouldly change the world, it could put us In a new era a one for the better. But due to the largest oil and gas companies exxon mobil, royal dutch shell, bp, Sinopec and bureaucracy the steps are not being taken to insure our future. The government is corrupted, State officials rather than elected representatives are making all the decisions. Burning fossil fuels negatively affects the environment because they release carbon dioxide and other gases that trap heat in the Earth 's atmosphere, which contributes to global climate change. But due to bureaucracy global climate change is still considered a myth
Throughout the 20th and 21st century, our knowledge about the environment and energy has steadily grown, as well as our dependence on them. Nowadays, power and electricity are in every facet of our daily lives. Due to this, we overlook several negative effects our traditional use of fossil fuels have caused. Fossil fuels are fuel deposits that were formed hundreds of millions of years ago, which is where the term fossil fuels come from. The two most common fossil fuels currently in use are coal and oil, which power the majority of our infrastructure. However, fossil fuels are known to have some drawbacks which is where projects for alternative energy come into play. Alternative energy, or also known as renewable energy are energy sources
Most America families are dependent on fossil fuels for their energy needs. However, the cost associated with fossil fuels is very unstable and has caused many to seek alternative sources. Many experts think, that alternate source has been realized in the form of renewable energy. These types of energy have shown potential for sustained demands, economic growth, and environmental benefits. Consumers should consider renewable energy as a replacement for their everyday energy needs as they are a better and more beneficial source of power.
Modern society is characterized by convenience; convenience supplied by oil. Whether it be to fuel cars, to make plastic for hair dryers, or to paint a wall, most everything found in use today depends on this black gold. Although petroleum ’s variety of uses has made life convenient, this convenience has lead to an extreme use of oil, and it is now leading to its depletion. Although billions of barrels of oil remain in worldwide reserves, the United States needs to invest in replacing petroleum with alternative energy sources because readily available oil reserves are running out and other sources are more difficult to access and use .
