Personal Narrative: My Compension From North Central Texas College

The hundreds of things I experienced during my time at Lone Star College have forever changed my life. Every professor and student I encountered helped shape me into the person I am today. In high school, I would constantly struggle with my work and dreaded going to class. The moment I graduated high school I was given two options, go to college or move out of the house. Considering that it would be impossible to support myself fresh out of high school, college was my only option. I started off thinking college was a waste of time but I was dead wrong. Lone Star College gave my life guidance and skills that have contributed to my success.

Dallas Baptist University has been at the top of my college enrollment list for quite some time. I fell in love with the campus after my visit in November of 2015. The chapel was the number one thing that caught my eye. The beauty and the structure was just breath taking. I could see myself attending the services and worshiping along with newly made friends. I have been in contact with a current student at DBU, and she has been very helpful in answering my questions and encouraging me to attend the college. There are many reason why i would love to go to DBU. First, the school is very diverse, and it will be nice to see so many different personalities and cultutes around the campus. Second,

Growing up with high expectations my mind has always been set on the idea of college. However when thinking of the “right” college for my future, I never knew If I would be able to fully commit and choose which one was best for me. I wanted something that would be comfortable for me that also meets my criteria that would make the college transition a bit easier. Since I’m going into something new, my decision would end up being based on the class sizes, the costs being affordable, the majors and degrees available for Nursing, and the location and how close it is to my family. It was a hard decision however one school had it all, which is why I’ve decided to further this chapter of my life at West Texas A&M University.

Before my admission to Houston Community College, I was lost on how to succeed in my courses. However, my admission to this institute exposed me to different courses which educated me on different lessons on how not only to survive in college, but also how to succeed in my classwork. There are two main lessons that I wish to pass on to other students on how they can flourish in their courses.

Ever since I was younger I was full of wonder, which could be argued that it translated to a love of math and science. As I began to mature this wonder would keep me intrigued in learning an created an excitement for school. I started my education in Houston and am excited to continue it at such a great school like Texas Tech and thanks to this scholarship that will be possible.

As summer concluded the new school year approached, senior year. Not only was this year going to be full of surprises, but also stress about college planning and admission. Having moved to three different high schools I was excited to finally settle at Coppell and graduate in Texas. Even though this location was new to me I was satisfied with how well I fit in. I then decided to apply to schools around Dallas. The University of Dallas offers not only the class-size I was looking for the but also the academic standards and location I was hoping for. The university is very close to my home town as both are located in Irving. Having moved around to multiple schools within my educational career attending a local college would be essential to

I was born Bosnia-Herzegovina and I can fluently speak the language. Coming from this helps me understand tradition that much more. With that being said and how Fish Camp is, being apart of the program and tradition would be great. One of the best decision I had made when I came to Texas A&M was joining a Freshman Leadership Organization, more specifically FORME, Freshman Organizing and Running Mixed Events. Through my entire camp, they kept telling and emphasizing the importance of getting involved and it finally made sense after a month of being in FORME. This past spring, I had the opportunity to tour Abilene Christian University for the first time. The administration at the university also allowed me to spend the night in the freshman dorms so I could have the full ACU experience. Prior to this visit, ACU had been one of my top college interests but after touring and getting a taste of what ACU was really like, I absolutely fell in love. I found that the people I met were open about their faith, I got to see firsthand how excellent the nursing department is, and I saw how easily students were able to get involved with the many programs ACU provides.

I fell in love with her at the age of six. Her and I were going to be together forever. When the teacher came up to me and told me how perfect we were each other at the bake sale in second grade, I knew. When I went to fairs to sell cell phone cases with my dad and she was always with me, I knew. As we grew older, the closer we got and the more her and I understood each other. At this point, she had turned into a part of me, it was no longer her and I but rather we. Coming to University of Texas at Austin, has admittedly created a strain on our relationship. I was not sure if our relationship should continue, were we really meant for each other? I did not know her, I did not know how we would change the world, but now I do. This is the story

There is not a singular event that has brought me to Colorado Christian University, rather an unexplainable journey that has placed this institution in my path. Since the day I was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Savannah Missouri at the age of 13 I have been avoiding a path that hind sight has shown me very clearly. From the beginning I have usually taken another route than the one I was intended. When I could have been more involved with my faith I typically did not fully engage. I entered college in 1990 with no real direction in mind. I was not invested and I did not succeed, but I also did not follow the still small voice that was calling me to service the lord. I left school after accomplishing very little and joined the military

I am currently enrolled in the Middle Level Grades 4-8 online teaching program and I feel comfortable with the online class format. Even though I am approaching my final semester with Stephen F. Austin State University, I do still feel nervous that I might miss an assignment or a due date. I find being disciplined and organized helps in my success with my online classes and the text and email reminders through D2L are extremely helpful in keeping up with due dates for assignments and quizzes. I also like receiving my grades quickly and that I am able to easily contact my professors and receive prompt responses. Utilizing the online program through SFA has made it more convenient for me to complete my bachelor’s degree while working and taking

I served as an officer for our Campus Christian Club at Lone Star College-North Harris for 3 semesters and I remain a member of the group these last two semester. Prior to attending Lone Star College-North Harris I served as a cook, and fund raiser with the Home-school program affiliated with Lindale Assembly of God. I also cooked for our Wednesday night services, or any special event that was held at the church. I served under the instruction of Pastor Randy and Jana Meeks. I also aided in providing perishable and nonperishable goods to the pantry and for emergencies such as opening the church for those who were fleeing Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Prior to this I served Pastor John and Gladys Greiner in Glorious Way Church. I aided in the children’s

After graduating high school I began taking classes at Austin Community College. Focusing more on my business and marketing classes, working as a manager at Ashley Furniture Homestore this allowed me to use what I was learning in the classroom and incorporate these skills into the work environment. Over my time at Austin Community College, the classes were becoming harder to fill many of my classes were dropped or the Dean of marketing substituting many of my courses for other courses. I became Frustrated with this process and decided to finish my certification in marketing and return to college at a later time. Following graduating Austin Community College I became sick and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. This diagnosis had an enormous

Since I got to Texas State University, I have had a lot of busy weekends because I play for the tennis team and we travel a lot. The first tournament we played was here in our tennis complex, and it was a great experience. We played against St Edwards University, and although there were difficult matches and it was very hot, our team got the win.

I’m looking forward to attending Colorado Christian University because I believe the classes will help me grow as a Christian for my family and God’s Kingdom. With all the Christian persecutions in the world and the recent attack on traditional marriage, God has called me to be more active in the church and the workplace. I care about people and the problems they have, that’s why I’m acquiring a degree in Organizational Management-Christian Leadership. It’s my hope that one day I could work for Open Doors, Christian Post, or Focus on the Family to fight for marriage, God’s Kingdom and against Christian persecution.
