Personal Narrative: How I Changed My Life

The saying goes “Change is what makes the world go round”. Well, my world would move much smoother if I got rid of a few things. Table condiments, meatloaf and roller chairs have got to go! My world would be a better place if these items didn’t exist!

this point my body was exhausted and my energy felt like it had been sucked out of me. I kept trying to talk back to the crew members when I was questioned about anything. At first I could hear myself completely sounding fine responded to a question but I kept getting weird looks from the crew. They asked me "What's wrong, you aren't making words out." This started to scare me so I kept trying to talk then I could realize I wasn't forming words and my mouth was also not moving with the pace I was used to. I started to freak out because I could only communicate with myself at this time and all I could do was yell at myself for not stoping this before. I kept going but then the shaking started. This affected all of my actions because I couldn't act like a shark attack victim who was unconscious while shaking. I tried to stop it but it got the point where it was uncontrollable.

January 14, 1997: Immigrating to Canada from Jordan and settling down in the city of Halifax as a child dramatically changed my life. As I grew older, I started to question the purpose behind immigrating to Canada. After seeing my parents’ daily struggles to provide the best living conditions, I began to understand the motivation behind the move that forever changed my life. The immigration to Canada promised a brighter future. Wrapped around this reviving realization, I began to elevate myself out of loneliness, helplessness, and discomfort. This led me to my greatest accomplishment where I achieved my undergraduate degree of finance at the age of 19. Being young has always been an underestimation of my abilities and determination. I believe that age does not define or limit our capabilities, yet it is the mind that defines our age.

The way I am today directly reflects the way in which I was raised. The teachings of being smart with money, always using your manners, and always doing the right thing have helped to build my character as I have grown up. The community I lived in was very enjoyable where everyone was respected and friendly toward each other. The implemented rules and things we did as a family have stuck with me and helped shape the way I am today.

One day, about 8 years ago, I learned how to do something that I thought I would never be able to do.

There comes a time in everyone’s life when your perspective changes. Regardless on the topic, the event causes you to rethink your previous actions and set yourself straight. In my situation, the big event that caused me to change my perspective was a fight I had with my older sister. Growing up we never got along, mostly because we are complete opposites. Looking back majority of our fights are a blur, because they were so insignificant. However, the fight I am referencing is one I will never forget.

Change is inevitable and constant, even if we believe that at this moment we are finally the person we will be for the rest of our lives. As we embarked on this journey a few short months ago, how could we possibly know the changes that would occur in our everyday reasoning and thinking? These changes are not just isolated to the last few months; I personally have seen an unexpected growth in myself over the past couple of years. These changes are more evident in the capacities covered in this self-evaluation.

One belief, that I had accepted as a fact of life, was forcibly perverted and it changed the way I see the world. Most children are taught to trust all of our government systems and the people who enforce them, I was no different. I assumed the police were a uniformly virtuous force for the good of all people and I assumed that only those people who were fairly convicted would face punishment for their crimes. I had heard about crooked cops and detectives, but I considered them to be things of the past or extremely isolated examples. The first incident that began to reshape this worldview was a movie I saw with my family. It was a documentary on the Central Park Five. What stops me from putting my views out there or trying to make a differences is one i'm young so you will always have people who are much older say she or he is too young to know what they're talking about. Or that I don't have enough schooling about politics in order to know what saying or to know what i'm trying to debate about for example would you lesson to the person who's had more experiences in learning in general or to a high school whose only taking civics for one semester . if i were to wait a few years later and made the effort to study more about politics ,law or economics and i was compared to the same person again i would have a much greater chance of being lesson to about my views ,and ideas to help out and get my ideas out

My Grandmother passed on a few months back. It wasn't a sudden thing. It was bound to happen. I was remaining in the kitchen with my father when he grabbed the telephone. He glared, flicked his eyes to me, to my mom then back to me. He murmured a few affirmations then said, "That is fine. I'll be there in the blink of an eye, much obliged." He set the telephone down on the table, and just quickly, I think I discovered a temporary look of a grin.

Everyone believes in different things. Some people believe in barbecue, some people believe in Shakespearean sonnets, and even some people believe in shrek. But me, I believe in running. It has benefited me more than I could have ever imagined, and shaped me into the person I am today.

My story begins with the return to my hometown and birthplace; Marietta Georgia. In the last couple of months of my eighth grade year my family returned to Georgia, before that, we lived in Jersey City, New Jersey and even before that we lived in Dubuque, Iowa. It was exciting time, however, there storm clouds on horizon. During this time my eldest sister was diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease where your white blood cells attack your own body. My sister suffered from many symptoms caused by her illness including a stroke that forced her take a year off of college. Being with her, supporting her, watching the physicians and the way they worked, and my natural love for biology lead me to look into the medical field. My high school career

Mom and I packed up our things and headed to our shiny white 1964 Ford Mustang car. Just the thought of the car, remembering when my dad first picked it out got me more excited. Mom and I are headed to the airport almost two hours away to pick him up because he just went over to Vietnam almost eight months ago. Thoughts raced in my head. I did not know how I would talk to him since I have not seen him in so long! Should I tell him about my new best friend, my great grades in school or the fact that my second-grade teacher even recommended that I skip third grade? There was so many feelings that rushed in my head on that car ride to the airport. Little did I know that everything would soon change.

Hey, I’m Cameron Wolfe and I’m going to tell you about how the past events I’ve been through have changed my life, and changed me as a person. I used to always see myself as a loser and so did everyone else. It took me a long time to realise that the only thing making me think this way, was myself. Octavia was a big part in helping me to realise this, she really helped me to become more confident and feel like I belonged.

My love story is full of feelings of sweetness, bitterness, sourness, and saltiness, but, in my mind, memories of the day that my husband left me alone in Viet Nam still engraved in my mind. The fear of losing someone I have treasured created a storm in my chest. Struggling with many obstacles, choosing in many options, preparing for a new future lead my life to my situation at this time. I also made a storm in my husband’s chest too.
