Aissatou Diop In my brief time, that I have had in mr. Rudich PED 116 class. I have grown to learn a few things about myself, and my health and what I can do to improve it. First, starting with nutrition I have learned about the different types of fats, what foods are necessary to for our body and which ones to avoided. I have also redefined what a portion and serving sizes are. When the class participated in the diet analyst assignment and we recorded our eating habits for three days I believed before doing the assignment, that my diet and lifestyle were acceptable, but what I learned was quite the opposite. I learned that majority of consumption included high quantities of fat, protein, and carbohydrates at unhealthy levels. Since then,
The purpose of this assignment is to track and display the food choices we make and the way we eat affects our lifestyle and health. This paper addresses my personal food intake for the past three days. Next I will compare my food choices with my WileyPlus profile and determine whether I am maintaining healthy eating habits. There are foods that a person can eat in order to make sure that the daily required intake is being made. Sometimes it is really hard for a person like me to make sure I eat all the foods that I am supposed to so that I can consume all the nutrients that my body needs in a day. I know I will need to modify my eating
The purpose of this assignment is to increase self-awareness of the student by analyzing personal nutritional intake and activity routine throughout the course. In turn, the student will be able to help others modify their diet and activity, and improve overall wellness. An examination of a personal food and activity assessment will provide the student with essential data from which to change their health and wellness behaviors.
Mr. Mantalas and Mr. Grubb teach about regular P.E. things, but in reality, they both have some healthy choices they need to be taught about. Since Mr. Mantalas and Mr. Grubb are P.E. teachers who teach us to stay active and eat healthy, their health choices are questionable. For example, Mr. Mantalas and Mr. Grubb have both been spotted eating burritos and drinking loads of coffee by many students. It isn’t only once or twice, it is part of their everyday routine. They both tell us to eat healthy, but really they should be telling themselves. Mr. Grubb or Mr. Mantalas have to teach all the kids about staying healthy, but no one has ever heard them talk about themselves eating healthy. Students are always talking about how they eat so much carbs in their burritos, but no one thinks the two P.E. teacher ever hear anyone talk about it.
Patient education: The importance of dieting and exercise is crucial, especially in the modern age we are living in. Staying healthy in America is becoming a serious challenge to most people; cutting down on some fat and going for a weekly physical activities to the gym could make a substantial difference in one’s life. Dieting is so important, considering the amount of carbs and calories the average American consumes each day.
My actual intake is not what I expected it to be, I never thought I would be eating some of the foods that I am now eating because of this project. This project made me realize how poor my intake was from the first essay. I use to intake some of the unhealthiest food ever, I never realized how much harm I was doing to my body. Now, my intake is fair, I think I’m very much satisfied with the progress and changes I have made in my eating habits. Eating healthy is truly not that bad at all. I had to motivate myself to change my intake tremendously.
In comparison with my DRIs, my intake of kcalories from carbohydrates, protein, and fat are all within or below the recommended ranges. When I compared my Macronutrient Distribution to my DRI, I realized that I was very close to recommended amount of fat intake. One thing that I could improve on is my protein consumption. My carbohydrate intake is also something I can improve on being that it was below the daily-recommended intake. Looking at my Energy Balance report and comparing the calories that I consumed versus my energy expenditure I can interpret that I did not burn any of the calories that I consumed. Over the summer my goal was to do at least an hour of cardio daily. Since the semester has started I have fallen off. Therefore, I am creating a plan in which I will incorporate cardio into
HSC 3550 is one of the most important upper division classes for the students of Health Science major. I learned a lot from this class like legal and ethical issues that come along with U.S health system. I was totally unaware of the many facts of our health system and now I have enough knowledge to talk about. I have started reading online news and blogs about our health system and its legal and ethical matters. Two-class presentation was very helpful as well, that helped me to master at least those two chapters for sure. Some of the instructions or I can say our prompts were very complicated and nuanced for our individual paper, it was hard to understand and no proper instructions were given from where to begin. Journals totally messed
I took this opportunity to understand my unhealthy habits and transform my behavior. In my Wellness Recovery Action Plan, the information brought light to the obstacles and how to overcome issues. After filling out the Schedule of Recent Experience (Wieitan et al., 2009) and Tactics for Coping with Stress (Weitian et al., 2009), it was a shock how much I put my body through. A finalized copy of my results can be observed in Appendix A, and the results of the Schedule of Recent Experience (Weitian et al., 2009) can be viewed in Appendix B. In the outcome, I conducted coping mechanisms such as therapy, exercise, and nutrition. Nutrition has been a challenge as a waitress and full-time student. I am always around food at work that led to overeating.
One main component of health class is to educate you enough about a topic so that you can start making smart and informed decisions. Through the various units such as Healthy Eating, we aim to broaden your view by discussing different perspectives of the same situation, which intends to help you by considering all of the different factors around you, and the long-term consequences of your decisions. This thinking ensures a more smart and rational decision versus a quick-headed one.
Focus on Topic: Healthy eating is not about strict dietary limitations, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience the need for better eating habits, the solution to poor nutrition, and the outcome of healthy eating.
Starting out in this class I had listed the types of food I eat as well as my activities that I do to maintain my weight and well-being. When I had taken the Three-Day Activity Analysis I had mentioned that
I can change my behavior to make sound nutritional decisions by making a list of food items that I normally eat and incorporated new items that are healthy for me to maintain my health and diet.
Since we have been learning about nutrition in class, our task was to record a food log. Nutrition requires a well-balanced diet containing nutrient and vitamins like amino acids and fatty acids. Over the past seven days I have been recording and have been looking very carefully at my intake of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fats. In our task, the objective was to record the basic foods we ate during the period of seven, but it did not require recording every single detail or our intake of food. Doing this food log was a pain and it was disturbing because I never wrote about what I ate like breakfast, lunch, dinner, or additional meals. I found this food log useful because it helped me learn what I
This activity taught me a lot about my eating habits and intake of nutrients. One of the most notable habits was the time I eat. Growing up, my parents raised me to eat breakfast early in the morning around 7am, lunch at between 12pm and 1pm, and dinner at 6pm. Abiding by this routine has been extremely difficult in college. It has become a hassle to eat at the right time. Often times, I would have classes back to back and would not have time between classes to run to the diner and grab something to eat. I find myself eating dinner at 9pm or 10pm, which is very late and unhealthy. My mother would be so disappointed if I informed her I frequently eat this late. She has always been so adamant on eating early. I didn’t realize I eat so late until when I would plug in the food I had just ate into the fitness pal app and would see the time. Also, when I eat that late at night, I usually eat foods from the diner that are very fattening such as barbeque wings or pizza. My experience shed light on why many people buy fast foods; people are very busy and simply do not have time to cook a meal after work. They are exhausted and just want something as quickly as possible. I never understood or realized how busy life can be that you sometimes do not have time to eat yet alone cook a meal. Another habit I had never notice until this activity was the quantity I ate. I tend to eat larger portions of meal because I know I may not have a chance to eat until later in the day. Although I
