The paper I am writing on my projected career will address the types of writing that are typically done by secondary school English teachers. These writings include, but not limited to, expository writing, essay and creative writing, and research papers. The role of an English teacher’s writing is important, not only for future English Majors in the classroom, but also for the advancement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics because it helps expand student’s interest in these subjects and strengthens their verbal and writing skills. I feel that I am qualified to write a paper on this topic as I am currently a tutor for the Azusa Unified School District and have experience teaching certain writings in the classroom. In order
Students are subjected to write an array of essays, but they lack the required tools needed to effectively deliver a great paper. They are struggling to write and teachers are needing to design and conform to their current student’s needs. New methods are created and implemented in order to execute the daunting task of learning how to write a well-developed paper. Practical recommendations are brought forth for teachers to use and good teachers will learn to design instruction and activities based on suitable references. Teachers must set goals and deliver their lesson with specific strategies to meet their objectives. They must learn to improve skills dramatically by observing and modifying the students. Teachers must plan strategies in order to help the struggling students catch up or exceed in their writing skills. They must learn to motivate their students by keeping them engaged throughout the writing process if not they risk losing the student’s ability and focus to do better.
Writing is a practice that most of us were taught when we were young. We were taught the basics of grammar, how to form a sentence, conjunction words, how to write paragraphs and more. Although we have learned this skill while growing up and have used the skill every year after entering kindergarten, this does not mean our writing process will ensure the best work. The authors that I chose each encourage their audience to excel in the art of writing in their own way to help with the writing process.
My 1st career is Nurse, I want to be Nurse because I want to take care my family and every one. In my family we need a Nurse, Doctor, and other career that can take care them when some thing happen to them. they need some one to take care of them
I was raised by my wonderful mother, and God family in Burton, Michigan along with my older brother and sister. My career goal of becoming a physical therapist stemmed from a growth defect I experienced during middle school that my primary doctors simply ignored. It was not until I went to a physical therapist that I was given a chance to get the medical care I needed that led to a corrective surgery. Once I was healed, I continued playing sports as my family instilled a love for athletics that will never go away. A drive that pushed me through my 14 year soccer career that was a large factor in who I am today. These experiences gave me a form of discipline that has carried into my college career which began at Adrian College, but an injury I suffered during my senior year in high school ended my time on the field, and my inability to play soccer at Adrian College.
The nature of writing has changed in the past century. While writing still remains a form of visual communication, much of this change has been a result of technological advancements such as, from pen to paper or from a typewriter to a networked computer. The changes and expansion in the ways we are able to write today have brought about changes in writing pedagogy as well. The teaching of writing has been part of formal schooling in the United States for over 200 years (Kean 7). One major pedagogic change in United States’ education has to do with the implementation of the Common Core State Standards. These standards have led to a change in the instruction of writing in schools. This paper, will focus on instructional changes of writing over time and current expectations for writing abilities as whole.
Throughout my life, I always wondered what my profession would be when I grew up. My first choice was to be a nurse because I love to help people and make sure that they are well taken care of. When I reached high school, my thoughts about nursing tapered off because other careers interested me even more, such as becoming a lawyer. As I began researching more and more about lawyers, I talked to my work based learning teacher at school, and she recommended a part time job at a law firm. I began calling around, and entering my senior year of high school, I received my first job at a law firm. The first days of working at the law firm, I was extremely excited because I thought that I would be one step closer to reaching my goals as an attorney. I had the privilege of seeing what the attorneys did throughout the day, however as my experience in the firm progressed, my interest in becoming an attorney dwindled. I then realized I was back to square one and was extremely discouraged, because I did not know what I wanted to do with my life.
In college I will major in biology and earn a bachelor's degree, technically you don't need a premed major as long as you complete science course classes. I chose to major in biology because from recent studies, majoring in biology is a good choice to be ahead of the game. My career goal is to be a pediatrician, in order to do so I must complete a total of 11 years after high school. That is 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency. The medical school will get me a medical degree, and I will learn basic medical sciences, clinical sciences then comes hands on.
Coupled with traditional beliefs in Pakistani society and my mother’s early marriage, she never had a multitude of opportunities available to her. In society when my parents were growing up education for girls was more of a formality so that the literacy rate would increase. There were no expectations for girls to further their education even if they wanted to and therefore there was not a lot of support of girls who wanted to continue into careers. She also married very early in her twenties and had children very soon after which ate up her time. So, my mother received her Pakistani equivalent of a high school diploma, but not anything more. Even though she did not receive a post-secondary education, alongside minimal
Teachers need to create a daily purpose for their writing. “Teachers need to make ELLs aware of the purpose and form that different types of writing, and ultimately communication, can take in their respective disciple” (DelliCaripini, 2012).Therefore, the more times the students are exposed to the different variety types of writing the more comfortable they will be in writing in their content-area classrooms. “English teachers are in a good position to implement the types of supports that can move ELLs toward success in academic writing by providing exposure to and practice with different genres of academic writing, finding ways to provide time for ELLs to engage in the task, building academic vocabulary, and providing effective feedback that ELLs can use to improve on what they are doing” (DelliCarpini,
Beginning the search for my future career, I need something that would challenge me, and something that would be competitive. Dermatology seemed like the only answer. Along the journey of becoming a dermatologist the first best step would be to join the Health Science and Human Services academy here at Alexandria Area High School. As I research Dermatology using the Minnesota Career Information System, I will continue to look in the Health Sciences cluster. I can’t wait to introduce you to the Dermatology field, and inform you of what opportunities it will provide for me and anyone else that chooses to follow this path.
Writing is something that most people will encounter every day, whether they are composing a personal email or typing a professional resume. In a time when “text talk” is something that we have grown accustomed to, it can be ease to allow our writing skills to suffer. While being a good writer is important in school, these same skills can help you to advance in your career as well (Bethel University, 2014). Throughout Unit 2 we not only learned the benefits of being a good writer, but we were also given tips to help ensure we become the best writers we can be. By teaching the kids I work with basic rules of writing, I hope to give them confidence in their writing. Also, teaching the kids to speak properly will not only improve their
Over the course of my formative years, my career plan has changed and evolved to better fit the person I grew up to be. My mother worked hard over the first few to convince me I should go into the medical field; consequently, at the time I wanted to be anything but a doctor. The closest I came to medicine was when I wanted to be a veterinarian, but once I realized veterinarians do not just spend the entire day playing with dogs the idea was transient. Eventually, I came around. I decided I would become a dermatopathologist, the type of dermatologist that performs biopsies of the integumentary system and then runs tests the area removed to make a diagnosis. For a while, it seemed like dermatopathology would stick, I even met a dermatopathologist, but I yet again changed my mind. Thankfully, I noticed a few commonalities: all my future plans seemed to be ambitious and for the most part directly related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields.
There are many different career paths in life, but eventually you have to narrow it down so you can know what you want to do in your life. I haven’t really figured out what I want to do, but right now I have some things that I would like to do. They include being a NBA player, an orthodontist, or a teacher and a coach at a school.
Though I am a woman and I have felt the call to have my career path be one that works to expand and bring love to the kingdom of Heaven, I believed that women didn't belong in leading the church. My family has moved around a lot and attended numberless different churches, none of which allowed women to be head preachers or even speak much outside of reading a verses every once in a while. All around me it wasn't ok, I did not know why, I just knew that was the way it was. I did not question it, I just took it as fact without figuring out why or any of my own beliefs on the matter.
Since beginning to write papers in English class, I have had countless successes and failures. While many of my English classes have taught me how to improve my writing, I have not learned very much in others. My most recent English class was last year, my sophomore year. My class was particularly undersized; therefore, it gave each student the opportunity to have additional individual attention. Throughout the class I experienced high points, weaknesses, and even difficulties that I never overcame. Overall, my writing skills improved, but only marginally.
