After writing my Professional Development Plan, I thought about a person who had knowledge of my desired position, but who also had experienced things in their life that would translate into their work ethics. After much thought, I turned to Dana Yorko. A family friend and a woman who has had experience in both the corporate world and life. Dana currently works as an General Manager for a company titled American Executive Centers. Our entire interview spent a total of three days, which consisted of exploring her work environment and the duties and responsibilities behind her position at AEC.

It is my fervent belief that by taking up a graduate degree in Family Nursing, I will be able to contribute more to my community and be of service to people who are in need of my skills. I have learned how to be hardworking and committed, and these are two of the greatest values that I intend to contribute to the institution. My 21 years in the nursing profession, five years CNA, two years LPN, and 14 years RN experience, are proof of my dedication to the field, and with the life experience that I have had, I believe I am prepared to face anything that comes my way.

The conventional role as the nurse has been the hospital bedside caregiver. However, the U.S. is unable to finance a health system that requires expanded delivery of outpatient and primary care throughout the nation. Furthermore, citizens need a greater number of clinical specialists to treat an array of acute and chronic illnesses. The populations require a wider use of nurse practitioners and other advanced generalists to provide more available and cost-effective care, especially in under-served areas. Even so, producing more direct-care professionals will be insufficient to meet the growing need for nurses in other areas, such as health development and disease prevention, case management, and governed care settings. Initially I thought that I had little research experience except for gathering information regarding falls and looking for solutions to prevent them. Then I began thinking about all of the times that I have turned to journal articles when looking for information related to best practices in patient care. With the many leadership opportunities, nurses were motivated to be lifelong learners, whether through continuing education or advancing degrees as per Blais and Hayes (2016). The future of nursing, especially with the Affordable Act 2010, will transition to primary caregivers to fulfill the public demand. In my short seventeen years on this planet, I have developed a deep desire to continue my professional development. I believe this is evident from my dedication to academic excellence and my ability to maintain a near flawless academic record throughout high school (3.9 GPA). I have selected civil engineering as my intended field of study because I have had a natural attraction to different types of structures and a fascination of how these came to be constructed ever since I was a little girl. I sincerely believe that the University of Wisconsin will provide me the skills necessary to fully pursue my professional ambitions.
