John Legend wrote “All of Me” for his fiancée, Chrissy Teigen. There is no doubt that the song was for her. The whole song is about love and about giving up something, to gain so much more. This song consists of the couple loving each other and understanding sometimes things are hard and will not always make sense. But they also know that if they persevere through those hard times they will be unstoppable. Though John Legend wrote this song for his fiancée, the audience could be mature adults that can understand love and commitment. The song “All of Me” is for Chrissy Teigen, but John Legend is projecting his feelings and thoughts about her. These mature adults are targeted because of their newfound love and ability to commit to someone …show more content…
The song is typical of its’ genre because it is a love song like so many others in the R&B genre. There are many rhetorical appeals in the song, such as ethos and pathos. The music video tells us that John Legend was singing that song for his future wife Chrissy Teigen, so that would make John Legend credible. In a lot of videos it is a random person with the artist, but in this particular video John uses his real fiancée and shows that it is not a perfect relationship. This allows him to be credible because he is using his own real life situation and not an unrealistic one. When you think of the emotional appeals in the song(pathos), you’ll see that the entire lyrics are emotional. This is a love song with a lot of emotions throughout the lyrics. “Give your all to me. I'll give my all to you. You're my end and my beginning. Even when I lose I'm winning”, these song lyrics are showing how John feels about Chrissy and their love for each other. You can understand the emotional connection that the two share. The music video helps cement their relationship because the video only includes John and Chrissy. John is showing his love towards Chrissy by singing to her and the audience sees the emotions between
Throughout the song Prince Royce repeats the word “You”. This word gives the effect of the song is about you. It gives the feeling that he is talking to you. Also it gives the point of view of a man. This woman have low self esteem and believe that they will never
He starts off She’s Mine, Pt. 1 repeating the line “I’ve never felt so alive” over and over again. Not only is he excited to have his wife in life, but he is celebrating his daughter as well. He says, “I've fallen in love for the first time, for you i'll drop the tough guy shit” in She’s Mine, Pt. 2 which is meant for his daughter. This is obvious because the sound of a baby crying is playing over the music and he says, “Reminisce when you came out the womb, tears of joy I think filled up the room. You are now the reason that I fight, I ain't never did nothing this right in my whole life.” J.Cole dedicated the song Foldin Clothes to his wife. Throughout the song Cole says, “I wanna fold clothes for ya, I wanna make you feel good.” Throughout the song, Cole talks about wanting to make his wife’s easier by doing “the right
This song was released in May 2006 in the United states, with the intended audience being people ranging in age from middle school age to college age. He chose this range in age to connect to a broad amount of people, with the general assumption that they would be familiar with what love is, or have experienced it themselves.
“I love you, please say you love me too,” she sings. “I love you / I will be your light, shining through your eyes.” Still yet, we have “Crazy in Love” by Beyonce’ and Jay-Z, hip-hop artists. “Your love’s got me looking so crazy right now,” they sing/rap. “Looking so crazy in love.” Despite the musical differences between all these artists, all three songs/genres were able to give light to the theme of love. And even though the theme may be the same, the music and words were not. So even though two songs may have a theme that is similar, themes in music add diversity.
Although Hozier’s song seems to be a simple love song, it has a deeper meaning that encourages the listeners to think about relationships. After Hozier states, “I’m so full of love I can barely eat”, the singing and methodical rhythm pauses.
The song tells of an emotional breakup and the emotions shown in the song are sadness and anger. After the breakup, she emotionally was torn apart and continuously will want him. Miley Cyrus shows credibility by being who she is as a much known singer. The sound of the song automatically starts with high and fast beats which sets the intense scene for the song. By the middle of the song, the sound drops to a much slower beat but then back up for the final chorus. “Wrecking Ball” was written to the guy who caused her to feel the way she did. In the first line of the song, she uses the words “clawed” and “chained” which are not normal words used for people in a relationship. She then says she fell under his “spell” meaning that she was into the relationship more of then him. She also relate the death of their relationship to “we’re ashes in the ground.” Within the entire song when she sung the word “wreck,” it was emphasized and had a longer beat. The last two lines of “Wrecking Ball” was “yeah, you, you wreck me,” repeated twice also for emphasis. The music video begins the song zoomed into Miley Cyrus’ face almost like looking into her and her feelings. By the second chorus and the increased beat she begins swinging on a ball, creating a visual of her feelings and her literally coming in like a wrecking ball and breaking his
The most prevalent issue observed in the lyrics and music videos was gender and sexuality. This was in issue that was present and reoccurring in all of the top songs but occurred in different ways. This was no surprise though because we live “In a culture where sex and gender are centrally important” (2015; 73). The issue arises in the genre of music because of the way gender and sexuality is presented. In the top song “Die a Happy Man’ by Thomas Rhett, objectification was presented in both the lyrics and the music video. In the lyrics he says “Baby that red dress brings me to my knees, Oh but black dress makes it hard to break” and goes on to say “You’re a saint, you’re a Goddess, the cutest, the hottest, a master piece” (lyrics). It seems that his goal is to complement her, but he is objectifying her by judging her femininity (2015; 203). He also does this in the music video by having the girl in a bikini the whole time. Not only was the women objectified, but Thomas exposed a stereotypical relationship consequence. In modern society men tend to make a stereotype that they have to give up everything to be with a woman. Thomas did this in his lyrics when he talks about how he could “never get to see the Northern lights” or “never get to build my mansion in Georgia or drive a sports car up the coast of California” (lyrics). The second song was “Strip It Down” by Luke Bryan. In this song Luke definitely introduces gender roles in both the lyrics and the video. The song
“Both of Us”: A Song of Life The song “Both of Us” sung by B.o.B and Taylor Swift has a very powerful message within the lyrics. When the song first penetrated my eardrums it made me feel good inside and gave me hope. My soul connected to the lyrics and my heart beat to the rhythm. The song gave me the message that while we need to help others in the journey we call life, we also need to take care of ourselves first.

Macklemore (Ben Haggerty), Ryan Lewis, and Mary Lambert wrote this song together. It is a part of a partnership with the Music for Marriage Equality campaign. It drives home topics about hetero and homosexuality, and overall acceptance. Listening to this song made me realize that I, myself, have common views with the three talents that put it together. Same feelings on Christianity, marriage equality, and life basically.
The age of the singer (27) may indicate that the song is directed towards a younger audience as younger people may be able to relate to his music slightly more than older people who may already be married would be. However, the song does not have an exact audience as the pop-rock genre of the song appeal to people of all different ages, genders, interests etc. and many of the lyrics throughout the song may allow many different people to use their own relationship difficulties and relate to the
On "My Love," Majid Jordan and Drake bring the same energy and skill, each performing remarkably on their respective parts. The song is great, and the theme, an anthem for those who are questioning love, is even greater. Majid Jordan introduces us to the song, and his calm vocals bring us a Majid that is questioning his decision to be her love now. He was ready a long time ago, but she shot him down, and now he is asking her why she wants to be his love. “All the things that I put a hold on / all for you to hit me with a hold on / what
Many of the lyrics in "All of Me" express the way the singer feels for his wife. For instance, in the lyrics "My head’s underwater but I’m breathing fine / You're crazy and I'm out of my mind." My head is underwater is an idiom. Even though his head is underwater he is going to be fine because he has a good support team. Sometimes when a person is in love he might not notice the bad qualities. Even though she has bad qualities they still make a good team and she supports him so he'll be
The song basically describes the “perfect date” and all these emotions that are “supposed” to be felt to indicate that you love the person. The artist adds classical elements and modern-day elements to her song making it more relatable to teens and also causing them to remember memories of when they were kids watching “Snow White” and wishing one day they will be that princess. The artist keeps repeating that this
