In today society, due to a large number of factors, the college degree is the equivalent of the high school diploma from the 1970’s. (Farrington, 2014). During and after the Great Recession, hiring practices became more and more competitive. This is where the importance of having an advanced degree, tough not too advanced for the market, comes into play. For example, if two people were to apply for the same job, say a manager of some business, a person who excelled in an MBA program would outcompete the other candidate who just has a business degree. Earning these advanced degrees can tend to show a candidate’s dedication to a particular field and also a more thorough, though theoretical, understanding of the complex issues within a particular field. Yet, the issue of the cost benefit of the advanced degrees has come under scrutiny with the ever increasing rise in tuition prices. Though economists generally hold that people with an advanced degree could earn more than $3 million dollars over someone with just a bachelor’s degree, it begs the question of if the cost of incurring debt to achieve the advanced degree is worth it. This author is of the opinion that so long as you ascertain an advanced degree that does not make you over qualified for the market (e.g. having a Ph.D in accounting when most Big 4 firms only require a MAcc). This simple fact goes to show that not all things are necessary. Although in this day of time, most jobs require higher education, there are still several occupations that could possibly supply more pay to a non-graduate that a graduate. This situational happening is rare, but it just might be worth the try for a debt free life. questioning the equivalent of a college education today, which years ago gave an impression a good investment and confidence, could be very enlightened. Therefore, people uncertainty and inquiring can be the fundamental to transformation. Researchers stated, “48 percent of baccalaureate degree holders are not employed in jobs that require the degree.” (Rose, 2013) Even though bachelor 's degree superior is very much high and likely pay in jobs not requiring the degree is comparably low.
In today’s job market we see many human resource management changes and challenges evolving with the changes in a competitive market environment. One goal of the human resource department is to hire employees that will be as productive as possible, which in turn leads to more revenue and the success of an organization.

In recent years, many critics have stressed that dropping out of school to pursue a successful life is not needed with a complete college education. Many entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs and David Thomas, have become successful without the education that is stressed today. Yet, if using wealth as a measure of success, Forbes’ 2012 edition revealed that 85% of Americas 400 richest people and successful citizens do in fact possess a college degree (Is a College). In the workforce, many employers are hungry driven to find the best of the best for the job and a college degree sure makes a great impression. The probability of keeping a successful job will increase through a college degree. The quality of life after maintaining a college degree will significantly be comfortable and more prominent.
To work in the Human Resource management field you must maintain and improve the company by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resource policies, programs, and practices. It is a challenging and yet rewarding field to work in. However, just like every business field, people who work in the human resource department face many challenges when it comes to discrimination.
