During the activity, I chose federal budget cuts for domestic programs and foreign aid. I cut foreign aid in half. I do not think that America needs to help the world anymore. We have already helped out a lot and we should only help towards people that really need it, such as starving Africans, instead of funding wars overseas. I cut the pay of civilian federal workers by 5 percent. People in the federal government get paid more and more every year while citizens of our country get paid a lower minimum wage than a lot of other places in the world. I cut 250,000 government contractors. There are more contractors than government officials, which means more money spent on a government that does not fully have the needs of the country in mind. In addition, I chose federal budget cuts for the military. I reduced the number of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to 30,000 by 2013. We do not need the troops in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore. The war is over. Let the country figure out what it needs to do by itself. We helped create the uprising there, so we can help diminish it by reducing troops. I also chose federal budget cuts for healthcare. I enacted medical malpractice reform. I think it is important that our doctors research as much as they can about a procedure or a medicine, so that they can provide the proper care for a patient and reduce the risk of getting sued.
Moreover, I reduced the tax break for employer-provider health insurance. Employers should not tax employees on
“President Obama has, conveniently, rewritten the standard of military strategy to conform to his defense-budget-cutting desires”(Bucci, 1). This quote shows how someone can manipulate the budget to make people think it is going to be for the better, but there are always two sides to a story. The defense budget cuts are causing the military a plethora of stresses because it’s taking away some training programs, benefits from soldiers, and even making America look tenuous.
When the terrorist attacks occurred on 9/11 it did more than just affect the comfort level of American citizens. It had an all around impact on how this country will be run for years to come. The one economic impact that I will concentrate on is that the attacks, arguably, but directly effected the U.S. GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and how the national budget will be handled from that day forward.
The federal budget deficit is a much discussed and little understood subject in American politics. The current recession has dramatically decreased tax revenues, driving the United States federal government to increase spending in an attempt to stabilize the economy. As a result the current federal deficit is at over $1.3 trillion dollars. This is approximately $47,754 per U.S. citizen or $137,552 per U. S. taxpayer (U.S. Debt Clock: Real Time, 2012).
In the past America has been a dominant superpower in the field of military strength, but for the last few decades, our military has encountered abounding liquidations and sequestrations, which lead to huge budget cuts. Nevertheless, America has faced many politicians planning to cut down on our military by virtue of it is simply cost effective. The Clinton Foundation has been cutting our military for countless years. Also, under the Obama Administration has been enacting laws comparable to the Budget Control Act or (BCA) which has been siphoning our military for the past 8 years. For countless years, defense officials remain silent due to the Obama Administration, vaguely America could keep its budget under control. Consequently, all four

Cutting their funding will lead to more health issues for people who used to go to them, thereby increasing costs on the public services providing by the government. It will end up costing more than actually not cutting their funds.
“It can be the beginning of a Congress that respects the values and shares the faith of the American family (31-8). “…we are gaining ground and restoring our fundamental values” (31-9). The conservative values play a large role within these documents because they are a part of how the nation may better itself. Preserving the values may increase the goal for the American Dream. Also, the Contract wanted to set up an ‘American Dream Restoration Act’ to make the dream more achievable for the middle class. Also, balancing the budget was important to achieve in these documents, and eventually was achieved. Through major changes with budget cuts and decreasing welfare, the debt continued to decrease. “Our economy is the healthiest it has been in three decades. We have the lowest combined rates of unemployment and inflation in 27 years” (31-9). Also, Clinton was able to get the Democrats to agree to the largest deficit reduction plan which helped with the budget plan. “...stronger families, more educational opportunities, economic safety, safer streets, and a safer world” (31-9). Decreasing the crime on the street was an important factor in the congressional republicans contract. They wrote about a ‘Taking Back Our Streets Act’, that included an anti-crime package. Overall, the Contract and State of the Union Address were similar with
I have consistently voted to repeal or defund the Obamacare law and rescind the $1 trillion in new taxes and $1.8 trillion in new spending contained in it.
The biggest cut I made to the national budget was the national resources and environment. This would effect environmentalists, and government departments such as the Environmental Protection Agency. I made this cut, because I felt that there were other areas in the government that needed more attention and priority. I decreased the national resources and environmental spending from 41.6 to 35.6.
The military is responsible for protecting an entire world of people, not just the United States as some like to believe. People, especially Americans, tend to criticize these responsibilities, yet the military is still fighting for every single one of their freedoms and democracy. Negative reports of the few individuals in the military cause the entire military to seem untrustworthy and unreliable, which is part of the reason that the military doesn’t get the funds it needs to be able to support itself or the roles that those in the military play. The people definitely do not support the military as much as they should, especially for what the men and women of this country are risking their lives for every single day just to make sure that
When a government’s spending exceeds its revenues causing or deepening a deficit it is called deficit spending. Deficit spending is only one of numerous tools used to help manage the economy. Deficit spending is presumed to stimulate consumer demand by helping the consumer to obtain more money to spend, in turn, the demand of product will rise. There are advantages and disadvantages to deficit spending that we will discuss further below.
Taxes are the dollars that we pay to government to supply the services that are not or can not be provided through the free enterprise system. Taxes have been around since the beginning of organized societies. They come in various forms. Most common are income taxes both federal and local government. These taxes are assessed on the amount of income a person earns. Other taxes come in the form of user taxes; these taxes are imposed on the people that are using the goods being taxed, such as gas tax, alcohol tax, sales tax, and luxury taxes. Property taxes make up the major revenues for local and city governments. Furthering the burden of taxation are taxes that are attached to such bills as utility
The McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program was founded by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help promote feeding children in primary schools. The program, which was authorized under the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, operates worldwide and seeks to improve the education of the 120 million children who don’t attend school. The chief purpose of this program is to utilize the food surplus in the United States to feed impoverished areas while also focusing on the improvement of educational infrastructure. Rise in school attendance and literacy among females is a distinct accomplishment of the McGovern-Dole program.
I said that number eight was developed global relations and is the least important due to the fact that everything else was way more important. I said number seven was make sure that people get educations because it's still not as important as the health of people around the world. I said Number six was combating HIV/AIDS. Number five was reduced the number of children dying before the age of five only because if we do other, more important things this won't be an issue anymore. I said number four was improve the health of mothers, as i was saying for number four, if we improve other subjects they will improve the lives and health of children, and in the end letting them live longer. I said number three was improve the rights of women, not
For as long as Americans can remember there has always been a federal deficit. In fact, the only time in American history when there was no federal debt was under president Andrew Jackson, and it only lasted a single year(Wall Street Journal). The federal government never managed to pay off the debt again, although some administrations, like Coolidge’s and Clinton’s, have managed to run brief surpluses(Wall Street Journal). Yet today there seems to be no limit on the debt and deficit spending, and a key question has been pressed into the forefront of politics and fiscal policy, “is
