Ethical Issues In The Movie Remember The Titans

The movie Remember the Titans takes place in Virginia. The year was when there were no racial mixings in the schools. The movie starts practically the day that the announcement of desegregation was going to come into action.

Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral dilemmas in non-literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, ‘Remember The Titans’ (Yakin, 2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer Gregory Allen Howard, they have utilized textual structures, language features and visual features to influence the audience's response.

Social responsibility makes a company more competitive and reduces the risk of sudden damage to the company’s reputation and sales.

Tackling Adversity If you lived in the time period of the start of integration how would you handle it? The movie Remember the Titans took place in Alexandria, Virginia in 1921. The film was directed by Boaz Yakin.

The film wasn’t about that 13-0 record and winning a state championship, but the struggle that came with it and all the hardships they had to deal and get past. Racism, prejudice, compassion and love were all key aspects of this film as shown. The racism, prejudice of the team when they first met was severe and had been changed. The love and compassion came as the team grew to become one unit and love each other and be able to become something more powerful than they could be by themselves.

Director Boaz Yakin created film “Remember the Titans”. This film was set placed in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971. At this time T.C. Williams high school was the first school having black race and white race together and neither race were happy about it. This film talks about how they overcome the racism and how each individual person on the team become one as team. And analysis of “remember the titans” shows people can overcome challenges by hard work, determination and perseverance.

Remember the Titans is a classic movie about one African American-populated high school and one Caucasian-populated high school who are forced to integrate into one school/football team in a suburban town in Virginia in 1971. Neither races are obliging to this rash decision being enforced but there was nothing to be done about it. The 70’s were a very difficult time to be a minority especially for African Americans, which is what led to many problems and struggles not only throughout the school, but specifically within the football team. During this time of hatred and segregation, one football team at T.C. Williams High School goes through the struggle of working together with teammates belonging to a different race. Through all of the hardships taken place in the film, the team gradually learns to not define one another because of skin color.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a very controversial topic. A question that has been debated for the past few decades is; is it corporately viable to introduce social responsibility as a proposed addition to the work ethic of business organisations. As well as, if adopting the framework of corporate social responsibility would yield positive improvements for those organisations.

One of the movies' overarching themes is team building through adversity and using diversity to strengthen a team. We see this team building done by many characters, most notably Yoast and Boone the two coaches. They are helped in this by the players themselves as well. A white player named Gerry Bertier and a black player name Julius Campbell. Both players are initially determined to side along racial lines during their team building experience at camp. Yoast and Boone help set the example for the players as Yoast swallow his pride and accepts a lesser position on the coaching staff than what he previously held. The example set by Yoast helps

Remember the Titans is directed by Boaz Yakin and was made on the 25th of January 2000, the film revolves around the struggles that many people had in the changes that were made in 1971. This speech will be revolving moral issues and dilemmas that are shown throughout the movie. The most prominent characters in the film that face these issues and dilemmas are Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell. both characters face their morals with inner and outer conflicts that are shown throughout the film, these include Gerry choosing his teammates over his girlfriend and when Julius had to accept his white teammate, Louie Lastik, trying to befriend them.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is something that affects all companies and should be an active factor in the company’s decision making. It is something all corporations need to care about. CSR is when business’ or corporations take part in an initiative or campaign for a cause that will benefit society and/or in some way make the world a better place (Taylor, 2015). Initially, Corporate Social Responsibility started to take shape around the 1950’s, but some say that it dates all the way back to the 1800s, the idea of CSR was seen (Carroll, 2007). One may think that because it is dated so long ago, it doesn’t have an important impact today nevertheless, it is proven that Corporate Social Responsibility is a pathway for entities to self benefit as they are in the process of benefitting society.

During the 1970s, the Business world became aware of damages engendered by the human activity, in particular environmental damages. For this reason appeared the notion of « sustainable development » in the Brundland report (1987). This notion can be defined as the mean to assure the development of the current generation without compromising the development of future generations.
