Donald Trump: America’s Greatest Threat Since its inception, the United States has relied upon its people to make the decisions that would influence the course of the young nation’s political climate. One of the most influential of these decisions is the presidential election in which the people spend months deciding who should lead the country in a new direction. Each election brings about a new event subject to controversy, a different political revolution, and an electrifying candidate or two. This year will include one of the most world-altering presidential elections in the history of America, and the decision is between two tough candidates, each with his or her own baggage. In the past, America has seen some rough candidates but none …show more content…
His self-absorption has led to an obvious disregard for the American people, and his political agenda reflects such. He rarely looks to the American people for advice, despite the message that his campaign conveys to working class conservatives (Westfall, et al.). He has consistently changed his political views to better the public image most convenient to his latest business venture. To better fit his nominating party of choice, Trump changed his stance on many national issues. His position on abortion changed from pro-choice in 1999 to pro-life for his presidential campaign (Westfall, et al.). He went from boldly supporting a longer waiting period when purchasing guns to falling short of supporting increased background checks in the last year (Westfall, et al.). Finally, he has been quoted in support of the Iraq war several times, and now to save his image, he consistently denies this fact and replaces it with his own Trump brand honesty (Gilmore). The American people deserve a candidate who has stood by his or her principles, no matter the political climate. Now with the campaign coming to a close, Donald Trump has chosen his positions on the issues and must stand by them— unless he is …show more content…
Many voters find Hillary Clinton unworthy of the office of president, but Donald Trump has proven during his early life as well as during his campaign that he does not have the temperament for the job (Westfall, et al.). He has only just now decided his political beliefs much like a teenager marking answers at random during the last five minutes of a test, unlike his well-prepared opponent who has long been a public servant (Westfall, et al.). His despicable behavior alone puts any other candidate or political figure above him on a pedestal of sanity. It should be a simple task for Hillary Clinton to secure the presidency, but each disqualifying statement that Trump makes over the course of his campaign simply adds to a long list of offensive words that slowly become less meaningful and share the same fate as words like “awesome” and “literally” (Gilmore). With all of this in mind, it is difficult to justify a vote for the real-estate tycoon turned reality television personality or even to consider him as a legitimate candidate. To vote for Donald Trump simply because he is glowing in comparison to the life-long public servant with a light case of pneumonia would be an insult to the
To begin with, Donald Trump believes that he is above everyone else and does not have to follow any rules. Trump’s narrow-mindedness and arrogance makes him a non-conformist. For example, Trump continuously spoke about putting up a wall so that Mexican people wouldn't be able to cross the border to come to America. Trump said “ I will build a great wall- and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me- and I'll build them very inexpensively.’ ‘ I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall.’ ‘Mark my words.’” Therefore, Donald Trump felt certain that he will build a wall to keep people out and make them pay for it. Furthermore, Donald Trump sexually humiliated a former Miss Universe. He made an
“I have made tough decisions, always with an eye toward the bottom line. Perhaps it’s time America was run like a business,” Donald Trump. With the recent changes that Trump has dropped on this country such as the threat to stop funding the sanctuary cities, the plan to end after school programs, the freezing of federal hiring, and the order for the bombing of Syria. Many of the “Make America Great Again” Trump supporters have started to sing a different tune. These new legislations have made many Americans rethink their vote for Donald Trump.
The results of both the 2004 and 2012 Presidential elections were the same as both incumbents were able to capitalize on the voters being comfortable with them. Additional, since both incumbents had access to national assets, four years of on the job training, and “insider information” they were able to speak in-depth on a wide range of issues both foreign and domestic. In 2004, the largest and most important issue to the nation was the war in Iraqi and in 2012 it was the nation’s economy. Given the incumbents access to firsthand information on the issues at large, they were able to weaken their opponents in the nation’s eyes by dismantling the candidate’s strategies on the issues. History has shown that nations trend to focus more on domestic
The upcoming Presidential Election is unlike any other. Two very different candidates with widely disparate political experience and personalities square off against each other in a bitter, contentious battle. Neither candidate seems very popular or likeable, yet one of them will be sworn in as President of the United States come January. In many ways this presidential election is unprecedented. The candidates from both parties are perceived as extremely unfavorable. And, while the establishment candidate Hillary Clinton currently leads the race, more recent polls show that her lead over her outsider opponent, reality television star and real estate magnate Donald Trump, is weakening. What is not unprecedented about this election, however,
I would vote for Donald Trump because the wants to strengthen our military, cut-taxes the right way, and upholds our 2nd amendment. Trump also has a strong business background which will aid him in running our country. There are many more things that I agree with trump on, but the three topics listed at the beginning are the main reasons I support trump.
Donald Trump is one the top Republican candidates who is running. He is very famous for his various TV shows and earning his wealth through his massive real estate business. Donald Trump is very different, compared to Hillary Clinton and even to the other Republican candidates, because he will tell you how it is, and he will not sugar coat anything. He is what most would call “brutally honest.” The policies and views he has on certain things are positive and negative. One of Trumps biggest challenges is getting people to think of him a serious candidate. Many Americans see him as “goofy” and not serious enough to be a good president. Another issue he will face will be getting his party support and vote because his policies are very aggressive. Donald Trump’s background is in business not in a political field. This could cause a major support problem because many of his Republican opponents have political backgrounds. Trump is campaigning with three key policies: tax reform, second amendment rights, and immigration reform. He believes that if he can accomplish these three things he will be able to “make America great again.” One of his other obstacles he has to face is his views over abortion. Being the Republican candidate he is, it is expected of his him to have strong views of anti-abortion. What most citizens do not like is the fact that he used to be pro-choice and now he is pro-life.
Since 1789, citizens have consistently participated in presidential elections to determine who can skillfully lead, effectively protect, and adequately represent the United States of America. As the upcoming election of 2016 gradually makes an appearance, the people have to question who can sufficiently accomplish these objectives. The candidates’ Ideas, views, and opinions flood every political form of media to give the voters a fair opportunity in selecting the best choice according to their personal views. Before making a permanent decision, one must inspect and investigate the different candidates, including Trump, Carson, Christie, and Bush, in heavy issues such as education, immigration, and tax reform to decide who is the best
Throughout the history of the United States of America there have been many politicians that have run on the campaign trail using their charm, their wit and some funds to help them on their way to win an election, and then there’s Donald Trump. Whatever you say about Donald Trump’s morals, there has been no doubt that his campaign has been a spectacle to watch. To show the effects of his campaign, envision the first presidential candidate that pops into your head. Donald Trump has been on the campaign trail since the very beginning of the G.O.P. nomination, and when people saw him initially they thought that he was a joke (except for me). How could a person who has never held a government office even hope to become president of the United States
Donald Trump 's run for presidency brings faithful supporters, angry critics, and a plethora of headlines. Supportive followers ignore the plentiful reasons that deem Trump unfit for presidency. For example, on several occasions comments and statements made by Trump paint him as sexist and racist. In addition, Trump shares similarities with Adolf Hitler, an unsettling realization. However, those who support Donald Trump argue that his economic experience as well as his honesty outweigh the long list of his faults.
Donald Trump meets the legal requirements to be the President of the Unites States of America: he is a native born United States citizen, he is older than thirty-five years of age, and he has lived in the United States for fourteen years; but sixty percent of Americans still believe that he is not qualified to be president. The president has an important role in our country, so it is important that whoever is selected can be trusted to be fair and honest in that position. Donald Trump, on many occasions, has shown that he would not be a fair, accepting leader. He openly discriminates against Immigrants, African Americans, women, and countless others. Although he is a successful businessman and would be able to run the country as a business,
Donald Trump one of our biggest egotistic maniacs has recently announced he is running for our 2016 elections. Sure he has been a successful man in the business world, maybe that's all he is a business man. Why would we leave our country to a man that has no political history or background for him to use as guinea pig. Sure he is worth “9 billion” but with four bankruptcy's the next is just waiting to happen alongside the hate and criticism that comes with him not to even mention damage he can do to our reputation as a whole
Donald Trump's ego, impulsiveness, and willingness to speak out publicly with confidence on questionable topics of concern seems to make individuals have very mixed opinions about him. Donald Trump has a reputation for speaking before he thinks. It has happened time after time during his campaigning for president where he states something that he thinks is valid and it later to be found out what he said was entirely erroneous or mistaken. Some people like Donald Trump for his ability to speak out on anything, while others find it a disgrace to the American people because of how spontaneous he can be. It really a hit-or-miss with all Donald Trump supporters. For example, some are keen with his immigration policy, while others are unsure of whether they want to vote in the election or not because of it. His immigration policy is usually the deciding factor between the support
Donald Trump has said many things that many would consider unwise. One of his famous quotes was, “Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world."1 That is just one example of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a poor president. For though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the world, Donald John Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not suited for that world is because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is completely uneducated in politics.
Public voting decides how much a money the average American brings home. People have to come to a settlement on who they want to vote for and who would make a good president. Donald Trump, who is currently running in the presidential election of 2016, started his career in an office that was shared with his father in Brooklyn, New York. Trump has worked his way up to owning his own organization, “The Trump Organization.” Trump decided to run for the presidency of the United States, a title that he deserves. Trump has been head of his company and has experience in running large operations. He speaks for all of the American people, including the middle and lower-class. Not only that, but Trump has proven that he doesn’t use falsehood, but
When Donald trump announced his candidacy it was somewhat of a joke to some of the establish GOP members, but as time went on it became clearer that he is what the American public wanted. Donald Trump is a man that to the public may seem like he has no idea what the is doing, but that is not the truth at all. Walter Meade said that, “In both domestic and foreign policy, this century will be profoundly influenced by the values and concerns of Jacksonian America (Mead 2002, 231).” Donald Trump embodies those Jacksonian principles almost down to the mark, with a small percentage of Jeffersonian thrown in. He believes in first and foremost protecting America and its interests while still protecting the liberties at home, and that is what has shaped and will shape his foreign policy if and when he becomes president.
