There are many cases in which people spent years in prison for the crimes they did not commit. Death penalty is permanent and cannot be undone. Many people have been proven innocence after the execution is carried out. If an innocent criminal has received a life sentence then he has the opportunity to be proven innocence in future with more advance investigation. For example in U.S as of September 11, 273 people including 17 death row inmates were exonerated by doing DNA testing. The use of DNA testing helps to confirm if a person is innocent and not sentence him to death. Likewise, in near future with more advance technologies someone can be proven
The death penalty is the punishment of execution. The death penalty was authorized by 32 states, the Federal Government, and the U.S. Military. Throughout the years, the method of the death penalty has changed. Not only has the way it is performed been altered, but also the way our presidential candidates view the death penalty. For example, when George Bush was governor of Texas in the 1990s, he approved executions. He sent some to death who might have been innocent. Death sentences in Texas have dropped nearly 80% since 1999. In 1977, Oklahoma became the first state to adopt lethal injection as a form of execution. Lethal injection is the primary method used. On December 2, 1982, Charles Brooks became the first person executed by lethal injection in Texas. Besides the deadly injection, the electric chair nicknamed "Old Sparky," was also an execution method. Texas, along with Louisiana, Ohio, and Illinois used the electric chair. The electric chair was in use from 1924 until 1964. Old Sparky was said to have taken 361 prisoners life's (TexasTribune).

The first person to ever get execution in the state of texas was in november of 1819. When this was first put into effect they executed offenders by hanging them. Until 1923 ,they began using the electric chair to execute murderers. In the 1970’s that’s when they began using the lethal injections. In the beginning of the death penalty people were only executed for murder and stealing. But now you don’t have to commit a murder to get put on a death row sentence. Although most people who are on death row have committed a murder. Some of the felons who have been on death row have committed a crime such as several rapes, assault and battery, and attempted sexually batter.
The life it took thirty-seven years for Lester Bower to build, was taken from him in slightly under four hours when a jury with no murder weapon, without fingerprints, witnesses placing him at the scene, or a confession, found him guilty and sentenced him to death. During the next thirty-one years of waiting he was separated from his wife and two daughters; he spent about 23 hours a day in the 5 by 9-foot cell that held him as he awaited his execution. In 1994, he reported that his life on death row was a lonely one saying, “You have people around you all the time, but you have very few friends. There is too much dying on the row, so you don't build really true bonds.” Finally on June 3, 2015, Bower died for the crime that he maintained he
In the United States, there are around 40 to 50 executions per year, Texas with 10 or more prisoners put to death each year. Texas has the highest rate of deaths out of all the other states with the death penalty. Texas currently has three prisoners put to death already. The United States has currently 31 states with the death penalty; the remaining states abolished it. The death penalty should be abolished because of the cost, it shortens punishment for the person who did the crime, and it puts innocent lives at risk.
Since the death penalty was reauthorized in 1976, 1,362 people have been executed, almost exclusively by the states, with most occurring after 1990. Texas has accounted for over one-third of modern executions and over four times as many as Virginia, the state with the second-highest number. The Walls Unit prison in downtown Huntsville, Texas is the nations busiest execution chamber.
Death penalty means sentencing the convicted to execution as carried out by the state and the judicial system. Set it in stone that the definition of death penalty is much more deeper than this. The argument of the death penalty is something that might not see an end anytime soon. It is deemed controversial because at stake is the life of an individual, his values, his morals, and dignity. Whether he still obtains morals and dignity is in the eye of the beholder but nonetheless should be taken into account. Ideals of utilitarian as well as retributivism are taken into account when discussing the death penalty and whether it is morally just, or immoral as well as ethical. Retribution along with the key words previously stated are just as
The Death Penalty The death penalty, also known as capital punishment, is the punishment of execution, administered to someone legally convicted of a capital crime. Capital punishment is enacted by the court through different forms after the court proves that one was directly involved in serious crimes such as murder, rape, or even drug trafficking. This form of punishment has been around for many decades. Much controversy surrounds the death penalty.
The death penalty is commonly used when people are convicted of things like espionage, treason, murder, and death resulting from aircraft hijacking. Though it has been seen as a negative, immoral act, it is a way to get rid of a person who has a huge negative impact on society. It is only used in the most severe cases. People like Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Bomber, received the death penalty because of his act of terrorism. He had killed 3 people and injured many others. The death penalty is justified because the punishment fits the crime itself. By putting someone just in jail who murdered someone previously, it does not compare strongly enough. By using the death penalty, it keeps the convict from ever committing the same crime again, which would be of chance if the convict was only put in jail.
Capital punishment, more commonly referred to as the death penalty, is the judicially decreed execution of a prisoner as punishment for a serious crime, often called a capital offence. In the United States, capital punishment is limited under the eight amendment of the Constitution and is used mainly for aggravated murders committed by mentally competent adults. The death penalty is currently a legal
Another argument is that the death penalty is not effective deterrence. The death penalty is not a proven deterrent to upcoming future crimes. There is not the slightest acceptable statistical evidence that capital punishment reduces the rate of murder. The death penalty is not a deterrent because most people who commit murders they do not think to be caught or do not care in the differences between possible execution and life in prison before they commit the crime. U.s has a higher murder rate then the other countries like Europe or Canada, these countries do not allow the capital punishment. (Arguments for and against

Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is defined as the pre-meditated or planned taking of a human life by a government in response to a crime committed by that legally convicted person. It has been discussed extensively over the years by many people. There are many reasons to agree or disagree with capital punishment, but the reasons against it completely outweigh the ones that support it. Many of the justifications for affirming the death penalty either do not apply wholly to our justice system, are misunderstood, or just do not make sense. There is no justification for killing other human beings and all of the arguments cannot change this. Since 1976, over one thousand people have been executed by the government.
The death penalty is a form of punishment, which is given to a felon that has committed a major crime and requires for the criminal to be sentenced to death. Capital punishment was a custom of the government and society for thousands of years as a way to “justify” the crimes of felons and is unfortunately is still present in communities around the world. The death penalty is frequently a form of punishment in asian and middle eastern countries and still resides in parts of the USA also.
Although the death penalty may be dehumanizing and painful, it is a cohesive and necessary punishment to implement. The death penalty can be justified depending on the intensity of the crime committed. The death penalty for those that have committed heinous crimes such as murder is the best path to take.
