In life, many variables are ever changing. The only constant unchanging variable in my life is my love and passion for education. Teaching has been engrained in me since before I can remember. My entire family is comprised of educators and I have no doubt that it is what I was put on this earth to do. Many people have asked me, “Why teaching? You can do so much better than that,” and my response is simple; I want to wake up every morning and love what I do and in the process make an impact on a child’s life for the rest of his or her life.
Mr. Thomas was the first math teacher that actually taught in a way, which allowed me to thrive in the classroom. My junior year I began using the flipped classroom method during Algebra II, which was an

Clifton is undoubtedly my biggest mentor my senior year of high school. Being my child development teacher, her class taught me a lot about lesson planning, learning styles, playing to student’s strengths and most importantly, myself. The Little Eagles Preschool that she developed was where I was able to plan and teach lessons to a room of two and three year old students, and it was the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Mrs. Clifton was always there for her students young or old, was involved with PFA, the coach of our high school track team, and was overall the epitome of a fantastic educator. What I loved most about Mrs. Clifton was her not only her passion for education but her long-term dedication to the school community. For her, school was not just over at 2:13 PM everyday, it still went on at PFA meetings, other after school events, and even track practice. One of the most important traits a teacher can have is giving support both in and out of the classroom. That is something I would love to be able to get the chance to do, not only to make an impact on a student’s life in the classroom but outside of the classroom as well, just as my mentor did the same for me, allowing my love for the profession to …show more content…
Many students, myself included, have had horrendous teachers who really deterred their love of knowledge simply because there passion and love of education was not present. Thankfully for me, I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Clifton in my academic career to help guide me to be the professional I aspire to be. My love of mathematics as well as my passion for elementary education has allowed me to tutor my peers, work at the preschool level and become a counselor at a day camp. All of these opportunities have allowed me to grow into the aspiring educator that I am today. This is just the beginning of my journey as an aspiring future educator. I know that this program will further my knowledge and allow me to become the best educator that I can be. When I am passionate about something, I give it my all, tenfold, and I hope that you will allow me to show you just how passionate about this profession I truly
I dreamt of walking on Commonwealth Ave. I envisioned myself entering the Morse Auditorium, books in hand, eager to learn. Ever since I had visited the eclectic city of Boston in 2006, I knew it was the right fit for me. I knew that the city itself, along with the remarkable academic resources that Boston University offers would allow me to grow socially and mentally. Until this day I ask questions on end from my comrades at the BU, impatient to learn more and more about their lives on and off campus. From all the feedback I have received I have come to one conclusion: BU is the place where I will get a rich, broad background in all my studies. BU will give me the foundation and preparation I will need to enter any field of study.
Throughout my high school career, a teacher that has had an impact on my life consists of Michael Sherwin. He is my Advanced Placement Government and Advanced Placement U.S. History teacher. Mr. Sherwin proves to be prominent in my high school career because his lectures in class are always enjoyable and very comprehensive. He is very knowledgeable on the subjects that he teaches and he is able to provide insight on countless topics. As his student, he is the reason that I have taken the initiative to partake in much more difficult classes throughout high school.
I am constantly writing. I write to reduce anxiety, to plan out my day, to jot down a hilarious joke (probably made by me) that I don’t want to forget later. Slowly, I am penning my own musical and I have written several short stories as well (which will be hidden in my room until my untimely death). One may assume that due to my love of creative writing I’m a skilled essayist and all of my former English teachers adored me. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Throughout my high school career not only did my papers never did pass an AP rubric they received harsh critiques as well. This ultimately discouraged my passion for writing.
There are several teachers who have inspired me since I started school many years ago. If i had to decide on the one teacher who has made the greatest impact on my life, it would be Coach Mike Hammons. Coach Hammons teaches middle school World History at Flintville Elementary School. Coach Hammons has inspired me in many ways. When I’m in his classroom, he makes learning fun for me. He loves to be around us students. Finally he’s funny. Coach Hammons is probably an inspiration to not only me, but every student he teaches.
As I was going through high school there were many teachers that were important to me, but there was one that stood out in my mind that truly influenced my life. Mr. Ron Edwards, my 9th grade American History teacher was the most influential teacher I have ever had throughout school. Mr. Edwards was very passionate about teaching and you could tell by the way he taught every single day. He talked loud so that you wouldn’t fall asleep in his class. It was very hard to fall asleep in his class because you never knew if he was going to pick on you that day to answer questions during his discussions. He always noticed how well I took notes and he let me know it throughout the trimester. I was the best note taker he had ever met. Knowing this fact
There are a number of teachers that I could mention in my journal today, there is Miss Lamb, who helped referred me to the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program. Mrs. Child, my third grade teacher who I still have lunch with from time to time to discuss literature. Even Mr. Ford, who would lend me books from his daughter’s personal library because we had the same taste in literature and he knew how much I loved to read. Throughout my years as a student, I have had the honor of being taught by many great educators. However, the most influential educator I have had in my life is the one who not only helped jumpstart my career as a student, but also offered me my first job, and that is my kindergarten teacher Mrs. Walker.
The teacher that made the biggest impact in my life was Mrs. Marn. She was an extremely caring teacher, she did not like watching her students fail. She made sure that everyone had everything they needed to be successful. She was, I believe, one of the best English teacher Brooklyn Center High School has ever had. Her passion for books were out of this world. She talked about authors as if though she has met them. She reminded me of a hippie in some sorts. She was very open with us and I was close to her. She was my teacher for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. I read, The Catcher in The Rye in her class and she tore that book up piece by piece, explaining every motive and how innocence is huge part of that book. She was my teacher for the college in the schools’ courses that I took. I felt like I failed her in those classes, she expected way more of me and I did not perform to
For as long as I can remember, I would always get in trouble for tinkering with anything I could get my hands on. My parents would constantly become upset because I would take apart all my toys and even break things around the house, trying to see how they worked. Since I was a child, I have had a strong interest in learning and my education. My curiosity and desire seems to continue to grow the more I explore about the world I live in. A huge part of my infatuation with learning is thanks to my time traveling throughout my life. Each place I visit attracts me to the different cultures and traditions people share. I hope to study abroad during my college years to both enlighten my perspective and to collaborate with students from different
The word Passion is derived from the Latin word “Pati” meaning “to suffer.” I did not know this until I looked up a definition of the word passion I found that it meant “a strong and barely controllable emotion.” Something that makes me feel a strong and barely controllable emotion would be something such as my education. I am very passionate about my education because I know that in today’s society I need a college degree in order to make it through life successfully and to make a good life for my future children and family. When I get older I want to become a psychologist, so in order to become what I want to become I will have to do my best in my college and high school classes. I made it into the Early High School
Being passionate about the things I do matters to me. Although it is not necessarily an obvious, quantifiable accomplishment, I believe it is as essential, if not more essential than, any of my other achievements. Passion is actually how I have been able to achieve all that I have thus far in my life. Whenever I am passionate about something, I am more involved and extroverted towards it.
“The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively”― Bob Marley
The teacher that inspires me the most is Mr.Pritchard (Jeremiah Pritchard). He teaches Revolution Show choir at Lake Forest Middle School. When I made show choir, I had no idea how much Mr.Pritchard would change my life. Mr.Pritchard encourages every student to be passionate, caring and to hold on to the light when the world seems so cold and dark. He pushes each and every kid to their full potential and doesn’t let us give up. He sincerely cares about each and every student. If something is wrong, he knows without you saying a single word. He knows by the way you smile or just the look in your eyes. Mr.Pritchard is a wonderful educator and is all around an amazing person in and out of school walls.
I am the oldest of two boys, living in a suburb of Baltimore, MD. I grew up watching my parents start two successful businesses from scratch. Their work ethic and passion for success have greatly influenced me, inspiring me to always strive for excellence. Also, I struggled socially as a child, having to push myself to socialize and connect with my peers. I came into my own towards the end of middle school, but I still value the sense of self-awareness and individuality that this challenge brought
Architecture as a field was new to me and my family. Engineering was the degree pursued by most. My passion for construction and site work started in my school days. There was a redevelopment site going on in front of my house where I would spend all my afternoons playing in piles of sand and making brick castles. From screening of sand, slab casting to door window fixing I saw every detail. This was my first clue of interest. Another reason being my passion for art. As a kid I was always drawn towards anything that included art and creativity. Be it my art classes or any competition, model making projects at school or designing posters for classrooms, it would make me forget the world and would just be engrossed in making it look better than
I know that receiving a good education can shape me as a person and I hope throughout high school Im able to mature my passion creativity and perseverance. I am passionate in learning because I am able to confidently speak my mind and convey my thoughts in a manner that is easily understood. My education has taught me to see the world from different perspectives, and to me that is invaluable. In high school I want to explore different studies so I can learn more about my surroundings. I believe broadening my range of studies may help me discover subjects in which I am passionate, and may even further progress some of my current
