In the words of G.I. Joe, the American Hero, “Now you know and knowing is half the battle”. While reading through the text I recognized some of my annoying habits through the eyes of a professor (my apologies). Unfortunately, I struggle with perfectionism so obtaining an insanely high grade point causes me to stalk the grade books, at times. However, as I embrace my weakness, I’m working towards allowing God’s strength to take over my efforts in completing my degree. Also, there is room for improvement concerning patience. Patience is a virtue most needed while working through assignments and waiting for responses from professors and other students. Now that I understand professors are people too (just kidding) I will practice more understanding …show more content…
As a future film student, ethical communication and proper research are critical to deciding which types of messages are encoded within my scripts. Being integral towards Biblical applications is critical to creating authentic Christian entertainment that inspires and convicts audiences to live uncompromisingly for Christ in the 21st century. My life’s goal is to counter and transform culture through my writings without compromise.
In conclusion, learning online comes with the unique perk of flexibility and pitfalls related to flexibility. Juxtaposing the classroom with my dining room ( traditional vs. nontraditional learning environments) reveals the only difference between the two environments a personal state of mind. Meaning, I must remain focused, humble, and fearless because my success is ultimately my responsibility. When I accepted this responsibility in 2005 and I started by taking one class at a time until I gained enough confidence to enroll full time. Graduating next year is going to prove that how you start is not as important as how you finish; I plan to finish stronger and wiser than when I began this
Although taking online courses may appear to be very time consuming and hard at times, the idea of obtaining your college degree from the convenience of your own home has made it easy for students to continue on with their everyday life. This article has given me a whole new perspective to this online learning experience. Through the group assignments and class participation, online learning generates relationships amongst peers and instructors and allows us as the students to value each individual student’s walks of life under the same subject. This online course will prepare me to become the educator that I need to be when dealing with the different diversities with the students, parents,
I don’t always write letters of introductions, but when I do, it's in Composition class. Now when I think about myself I tend to think of a few things in particular. The first of them being photography and video directing/editing. Over the summer, I got a new camera, a Nikon D3200. It's fairly nice so I use it quite often. I take pictures of mainly my friends. We've gone to places like Swiss Valley just to take pictures. I've even had people ask to do photoshoots and senior pictures for them. Also, now that I have this new camera I'm starting to make movies. I own a video editing program called adobe premiere, it's very nice and fun to use. So now my friend Connor and I are trying to make movies. But we don’t exactly have a ton of time to do
I've never considered myself the result of a cookie cutter mold, but the older I get, the more I wonder about that. Everyone thinks they're one of a kind. Everyone thinks they're unique and quirky and special. Is there really something that makes each individual special? What could possibly make over seven billion people all unique? I grew up with all boys, and that impacts me. My childhood was chock full of biking off-road, building odd contraptions in the neighbors' shed, and burrowing the biggest snow forts we could, without regards to the Minnesota weather. When I was six years old, I started balancing neighborhood shenanigans and Softball. It became part of me, and I loved everything about it. The ring of a ball ricocheting off the ball, the feel of the ball's seams as they rolled off my fingers, and the
Something that make me smile, gets me excited, makes me do something is softball. I have played ball all since the day I could walk. I started off playing baseball since I was 2 years old. Then at age 8 I went on to play softball for a select softball team in Pearland. Playing softball has always made me smile! I love the intensity, excitement, and the teamwork that is used to play ball. We all look out for each other and try to pick each other up even when we are not all in the spirit. Some activities that involve science, technology, engineering, and math that I find to be fun is robotics and underwater robotics. Robotics has always been a big part in my life because my dad is a robotics teacher for this school and I always loved playing
Passion is necessary to excel. Once someone loses desire or motivation for something it becomes quite difficult to continue doing well in that field. I went through a crisis of lost motivation in my first two years of high school.
The scorching oil splashed across my father’s forearm as he worked in a frantic hurry, ignoring the searing heat that ate away his flesh. He absorbed the trauma, swallowed the pain, and continued frying the chicken wings for his upcoming customers. Whenever he came home after toiling twelve hours a day in the cramped, hot kitchen, all I noticed was that permanent scar and the dark bags under his eyes. Noticing how closely I was watching him, my father held my face with his rough hands and reassured me, “I will make sure you will have a better life than mine.”
The beauty of nature is remarkable. I cherish every moment I am outside admiring the landscape surrounding me. I also enjoy capturing the beauty of nature to share with my friends and family. For my 17th birthday, I received a camera and I was beyond excited to wander the paths throughout my neighborhood; I immediately began to take photos and capture the elegance of nature. Although it is only a hobby and I do not plan on pursuing a career as a professional photographer, I still relish taking photos for my own pleasure and for other people. For example, when my sister became engaged with her boyfriend of eleven years, she suggested that I take her engagement photos; I was shocked and honored. I do not believe that my photography skills are
Do you have any goals ? I have many goals, three things I wanna do is go to college, become an author and be an actor.
A friend of mine named Marc worked as a producer, making films, animation shorts and a TV series for one of the Canada's largest TV broadcasters. Not long after he first became a follower of Jesus, he noticed something staggering in an Old Testament story. 'I was re-reading the story of the exodus from Egypt,' he recounts this illustration to me one day as we were grabbing a cup of coffee in downtown Toronto. 'I'd been trying to work out how a filmmaker like me could use his gift for the Lord. Then I noticed that there were several distinct stages in the deliverance of God's people: slavery in Egypt, then the Red Sea, then the wilderness and finally the Promised Land. Suddenly, it dawned on me: that's the way movies are made!'
Contrary to what some may believe, online learning doesn't equate to less work nor are the standards any lower than what one would expect from a traditional classroom environment. Online learning simply refers to the way in which the content
As an individual who is passionate about film, I believe I am well suited to a degree within the subject. Over the past couple of years, my interest in photography stemmed to a deeper interest in film, television and moving image, in which I am aiming to widen my knowledge. I find the subject immensely enjoyable, as well as infinitely captivating; with film being able to portray emotion and address multiple themes effectively and vividly, whilst also providing the entertainment and the excitement that we so greatly desire. From my AS/A level course of film studies at Strode’s College, this led to both my academic as well as personal interests falling within this subject. My knowledge has broadened significantly, making me eager to develop at a higher level.
Online college courses are almost becoming traditional for students. Some may perceive that a student does not receive an equal education when taking an online class. People tend to think that if a teacher is not directly giving the information about the subject, the course learning experience is different or unjust. This assumption is wrong according to the perception of many online course takers. Online college courses offer students the advantage to learn on their own time. The skills that a student learns in self-discipline, scheduling to complete graded assignments, and advantages learned with technology gives online classes equal education experience compared to classes on campus.
Technology is changing every aspect in our lives, even the way we learn. Online classes are a rapidly growing trend it today’s society. Online classes are a cost-effective substitute for traditional courses and more convenient for many, so more schools and universities are offering this option. Due to the increase in online course enrollment, people are questioning if students truly learn something from online classes because it’s not a traditional learning environment. Online classes are just, if not more, effective as traditional classes because grades have increased and online discussions provide students with the chance to interact through networking while earning a degree for less than what it would cost to enroll at the same university.
Education has undergone significant changes because of the development of information and communication technology over the 21st century (Lin & Jou, 2012:2). As a convenient and inexpensive way to gain knowledge while pursuing higher education, online learning, a form of training or teaching that takes place over the Internet, has been considered as an alternative to traditional classroom learning (Zhang et al, 2004). This essay will argue that even though online learning has benefit such as flexibility which could outweigh traditional learning, traditional classroom learning might still not be entirely replaced. This essay will discuss positive and negative aspects of online and traditional learning in terms of four criteria:
Andrew Simoncelli once said, “Students who take online classes must be motivated, independent learners.” This is relevant because independence and motivation is what it takes to succeed in an online course. Online learning will not only expand what students learn, but will also bring a number of positive changes in the way students are taught. Courses online have changed everyone’s look at learning all over the world. It allows more opportunities for observers to learn online rather than learning in class. Another affirmative of taking an online course is flexibility and convenience. Students who would like to experience some of these ideas should look into an online class!
