The fast food industry in the US is witnessing the increasingly fierce competition among Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, Jimmy’s egg and KFC. In addition, consumers increasingly favored foods clean and healthy. Foreseeing this need, numerous popular fast food restaurants sprung up promptly. The first Chipotle restaurant is opened in 1993 by Steve Ells in Colorado. On the contrary, McDonald’s is founded by McDonald’s family with a long history as well as one of the oldest brand in America. My paper will explain the similarities and differences in their three characteristics between Chipotle and McDonald’s, both of them are large enterprises in the fast food industry which have large market shares. To conclude, both Chipotle and McDonald’s offered the most reasonable menu prices for each type of food because both desire to attract a steady number of consumers to the
The age old debate: is Chipotle or Qdoba the better fast food Mexican restaurant? Of course, one could choose from many pros and cons for either side, but my goal was to dig down into the debate. Which restaurant has a better atmosphere? Which one has better ingredients? Are there more options at one than another? Which restaurant gives it’s customer more bang for their buck? Although I may be biased because I work at Qdoba, I’ve thoroughly researched each restaurant and come to a conclusion. Each restaurant brings many different options to the table, but in the end Qdoba is far superior to Chipotle in many ways.
Do you have a favorite fast food? There are many different fast food restaurants and two of the most popular are Chick-fil-a and Chipotle. Chick-fil-a is a restaurant who has a chicken based menu. Chipotle is a Mexican who is all about burritos and tacos. Both Chick-fil-a and Chipotle are good fast food restaurants, Chick-fil-a has a wider range of food choices and has more active role in the community but Chipotle is healthier which makes choosing which one is better a lot harder.
Unlimited, endless, fast food choices, and yet there are two that stand out above the rest. McDonald’s and Burger King are the two biggest burger fast food chains in the world. So let me ask you this, who has a better menu? Who’s Cheaper? And which one is healthier? This debate will once and for all come to an end, once all of these points have been met throughout my paper. McDonald’s vs. Burger King has been a long running argument. You will finally come to realize that McDonald’s is the better choice for you.
The way that Burger King and other fast food restaurant chains do business and markets their products to consumers is due to the change in our society to where the consumer wants the biggest, fastest, and best product they can get for their money. This change in society can be attributed to a process known as McDonaldization. Although McDonaldization can be applied to many other parts of our society, this paper will focus on its impact on Burger King and Taco Bell restaurants. My belief is that the process of McDonaldization has lead our generations toward a more a much more efficient lifestyle, with much less quality. From my observations and studies of these fast food resturants, several themes have become
Where and when did you observe the behaviors? Who made the observations? On 1/28/16, En-Lei observed inside of Chipotle. On 1/29/16 and 1/30/16, Matt observed across the street from Chipotle. On 2/1/16, Dana observed from a window across from Chipotle in the lobby of the Huntington Hall. On 2/2/16, John observed across the street from Chipotle. What behavior categories did you observe? How did you define each behavior category? We observed the outwardly happiness or unhappiness of individuals leaving Chipotle during lunch hours. In the year of 2005, the total revenue of Chipotle was $627.7 Million dollars. "Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG-$53.50 a share) was a January spin-off with an initial public offering price of $22 -- from McDonald's, the largest retailer of hamburger buns in the world. By year-end 2004, CMG had 387 locations, generated $470 million in revenues and earned 21 cents a share."(Berko) Last year, CMG had 485 locations that produced $627.70 million the growth revenue was at 33.40% in 2005. "pushing tacos, burritos, salads, plus huge helpings of tired rice and boring beans reporting net income of 78 cents a share. This year, CMG expects to earn 71 cents a share and, according to Prudential Securities, CMG will report $1 billion in 2007 revenues (that's a lot of beans) and post higher earnings of 98 cents a share." (Berko) Although Chipotle is at an all time high I believe that it may well be trading its shares at to high of a price. Mcdonalds the best and most efficiently run profitable fast food restaurant is trading their shares at 17 times earnings. Today Chipotle is trading at an outstanding $56.07 Per share. I don't believe Chipotle is worth anything over $30 a share. Although the price of chipotle stock is too high there should still be a hefty revenue at year end 2007. Predictions suggest 1 Billion dollars. For 2005
Especially in the food industry, the buyers always had and always will have a very high power because of all of the variety the market can offer. A surprising thing about Chipotle customers is that their loyalty is based on how the food taste but as I mention before, consumers in generally want to change their food habit regularly, so it is not normal in this industry that a person eats more than three times a week in the same restaurant, that is why buyers here with
Whenever people bite into some food, they often forget how far that food has travelled to get to them. Each ingredient has its own story, some better than others. By tracking just two days of my food consumption I learned a lot about myself and my food. It is easy to forget, or not care about where our food comes nowadays and how we impact where that food comes from with our demands. Foods from different regions carry with them different sociological, economical and environmental impact; sometimes, outweighing the value of the food.
Here are two restaurants that may make you become hungry when they come to mind. One, Chipotle which some of you may know for their humongous burritos and classy, cozy wooden tables. The other, Del Taco where their tacos are extremely crunchy and have convenient hours. Some people may believe that since Chipotle and Del Taco are both Tex-Mex restaurants that they are similar but based on their menus, environment, and prices one can tell how they differ from one another.
Chipotle is facing numerous challenges due to the fact that E. coli outbreak which requires the corporation from the key stakeholders to keep it under control and apply the new food safety protocols which can aid to bring the regular customers back. The Chipotle Mexican Grille opened its first store in 1993 beginning a new category in the restaurant industry known as “fast casual” (About Us, 2014). This new category featured the “highest quality raw ingredients, classic cooking methods, and distinctive interior design-features that are more frequently found in the world of fine dining.” However, aside from the normally long wait in lines, an order could be taken and served in only a couple minutes. Currently Chipotle operates more than 1,500 restaurants internationally. The following pages will present a balanced approach to the effectiveness of Chipotle’s strategy analyzing financial performance, customer satisfaction, employee/learning and growth, and internal process.

The Chipotle Crisis caused by E coli exploded from October 13 to November 10, 2015 in many states. Few customers visit Chipotle now. Chipotle’s stock has dropped more than 30 percentage. Thing’s getting worse as more than 80 students fall ill after eating at a Chipotle in Boston this week. No response has been found no matter in Chipotle’s official web, Facebook or Twitter. "The real red flags are repetitive failures," as a university marketing professor said. (Roberto & Abha,2015) Chipotle has fell into an awkward position.
