Chipotle Comparison Essay

The age old debate: is Chipotle or Qdoba the better fast food Mexican restaurant? Of course, one could choose from many pros and cons for either side, but my goal was to dig down into the debate. Which restaurant has a better atmosphere? Which one has better ingredients? Are there more options at one than another? Which restaurant gives it’s customer more bang for their buck? Although I may be biased because I work at Qdoba, I’ve thoroughly researched each restaurant and come to a conclusion. Each restaurant brings many different options to the table, but in the end Qdoba is far superior to Chipotle in many ways.

Do you have a favorite fast food? There are many different fast food restaurants and two of the most popular are Chick-fil-a and Chipotle. Chick-fil-a is a restaurant who has a chicken based menu. Chipotle is a Mexican who is all about burritos and tacos. Both Chick-fil-a and Chipotle are good fast food restaurants, Chick-fil-a has a wider range of food choices and has more active role in the community but Chipotle is healthier which makes choosing which one is better a lot harder.

Unlimited, endless, fast food choices, and yet there are two that stand out above the rest. McDonald’s and Burger King are the two biggest burger fast food chains in the world. So let me ask you this, who has a better menu? Who’s Cheaper? And which one is healthier? This debate will once and for all come to an end, once all of these points have been met throughout my paper. McDonald’s vs. Burger King has been a long running argument. You will finally come to realize that McDonald’s is the better choice for you.

The way that Burger King and other fast food restaurant chains do business and markets their products to consumers is due to the change in our society to where the consumer wants the biggest, fastest, and best product they can get for their money. This change in society can be attributed to a process known as McDonaldization. In the year of 2005, the total revenue of Chipotle was $627.7 Million dollars. "Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG-$53.50 a share) was a January spin-off with an initial public offering price of $22 -- from McDonald's, the largest retailer of hamburger buns in the world. By year-end 2004, CMG had 387 locations, generated $470 million in revenues and earned 21 cents a share."(Berko) Last year, CMG had 485 locations that produced $627.70 million the growth revenue was at 33.40% in 2005. (Berko) Although Chipotle is at an all time high I believe that it may well be trading its shares at to high of a price. Mcdonalds the best and most efficiently run profitable fast food restaurant is trading their shares at 17 times earnings. Today Chipotle is trading at an outstanding $56.07 Per share. I don't believe Chipotle is worth anything over $30 a share. Although the price of chipotle stock is too high there should still be a hefty revenue at year end 2007. Whenever people bite into some food, they often forget how far that food has travelled to get to them. Each ingredient has its own story, some better than others. By tracking just two days of my food consumption I learned a lot about myself and my food. It is easy to forget, or not care about where our food comes nowadays and how we impact where that food comes from with our demands. Here are two restaurants that may make you become hungry when they come to mind. One, Chipotle which some of you may know for their humongous burritos and classy, cozy wooden tables. The other, Del Taco where their tacos are extremely crunchy and have convenient hours. Some people may believe that since Chipotle and Del Taco are both Tex-Mex restaurants that they are similar but based on their menus, environment, and prices one can tell how they differ from one another.

Chipotle is facing numerous challenges due to the fact that E. coli outbreak which requires the corporation from the key stakeholders to keep it under control and apply the new food safety protocols which can aid to bring the regular customers back.
