Is child care having a negative effect on the development of children in the United States? Studies show that there are indeed negative psychological and developmental effects on children. Scientists in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom are coming to the same conclusion. It is best for a child to be cared for at home.
The key characteristics in creativity can support young children’s development in a number of ways. Emotionally they learn how to manage frustrations if a project isn’t going to plan or can feel happy and proud and a sense of achievement when it is completed. Socially children can build up self-confidence by working alongside or with others, creating something to share and thereby making friends.
Safe working environments should be reflected in all early childcare services. Overcoming difficulties across cross-cultures can be a difficult journey. Differences and misunderstanding could easily lead to a deterioration of relationships. Effective ways to handle these situations include: > Be aware of language limitations, some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders may not speak English as their first language (DPMC 2014) - use easy to understand plain English when in conversation. >

In todays world, it is good for the children to to play with a creative mind. Experts show the children will develope more with creative play.
Once upon a time, in my elementary school years, I dreaded the thought of having to draw for projects. I didn’t enjoy drawing simple stick people and when I attempted to draw anything else I never felt satisfied. So I dropped the pencil, feeling discouraged, and didn’t attempt to draw again. ‘Maybe I’ll be better at something else.’ I thought. I went from wanting to be a firefighter to a kindergarten teacher when I grew up. Even though I sucked at drawing I always enjoyed colors so I could at least have fun expressing it with children. Don’t forget this is a lot of serious thinking for a child in her single digits to even come up with. I always enjoyed cartoons and also anime, though at the time I simply thought it was an American cartoon.
The article 9 Ways to Support Your Child’s Creativity by Margarita Tartakovsky expresses why creativity is important for a child’s development and how to foster creativity. Creativity has educational, emotional and health benefit’s, which is shared in depth by Tartakovsky and three other experts. The first rule is to designate a space for creating, create a space solely where your child can be creative. Pam Allyn, director of Lit World and Lit Life and author of many books says “it doesn’t need to be a fancy playroom; a tiny corner with lego or old clothes for dress up is fine” (p.46). Secondly, keep it simple, you do not need the newest or most extravagate things. Child educational psychologist Dr. Charlotte Reznick says “keep all games and activities simple. Instead of following instructions, children let their imagination’s take control of what they want” (p.46). Thirdly, allow for “free time”. Allowing a child unstructured time to themselves is vital for their development. Pam Allyn said “spend a few hours at home without any scheduled activities, so your child can truly play around” (p.46). The forth rule is to help your kids activate their sense, meaning help them explore and observe the world around them. Taking your child to new environments, allows them to use all their senses.
Apparently, everyone has different points of view concerning the subject of caring for young children. The theories about how we should take care of children have evolved along the years and across cultures, but the first person that created a theory about this subject was a British child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, John Bowlby (1907-1990). Bowlby specified attachment as “lasting psychological connectedness between human beings” (Bowlby, 1969, p. 194) and he assumed that the ties that are created in the first years of life between children and caregivers have an enormous impact on the rest of the children’s lives, which consequently are going to influence the children in some attitudes and behaviours. With all of this we are able to understand that the attachment theory refers to a nurture bond that is extremely strong and reciprocal between two people, in the early years between child and caregiver, in which each of them leads to the character of the relationship. This bond has an adaptive value for infants, ensuring that their psychosocial as well as physical needs are matched. This is really significant to assist the child to evolve socially and emotionally.
Creativity and imagination spur the growth of intelligence in children and exercise their brains, creating more neural pathways. You can help your
Creativity in Children is one of the purest forms of self expression. There is nothing children want more than to openly express themselves free of judgement. Creativity, early on, is an important tool used by children to express personal feelings, thoughts, and experiences. The unfortunate problem seen in America however is the apparent trend, as described by psychologist, of an ever declining collective of creativity within our schools. This indeed is a problem since children use their creativity to make since of the world they live in. It is necessary to provide information to caretakers and providers on the proper techniques and etiquette of fostering creativity in children during the early stages of childhood development. Be that
Creativity is the basis of childhood and success in adulthood. It is the ability to create original and imaginative ideas and put them into action in an innovative way. Creativity is a skill that can be built upon with effort and persistence. For children, it comes in the form of imaginary worlds and mythical stories and it has always had a major part in all children’s lives. However, this creativity is diminishing in children from kindergarten to sixth grade. Whether this is caused by teaching methods, increased testing, increased dependency of technology, or how children are raised, it is a significant problem that should be addressed by the school boards. Therefore, creative thinking should be incorporated into existing classes in schools rather than taught in a completely different course in order to increase children’s learning capabilities and skills in the future and to increase interest in subjects that may not be very interesting to some students.
There’s no doubt that arts are fun for children. The arts allow children to express themselves better than science, English or math. If children have been given the chance to practice thinking creatively, it will come naturally to them now and definitely in their future career. As the problems facing society in the world today grow more complicated, it will become critical to find innovative and creative

Social justice, children, black lives, Christianity, and education are all topics that I am extremely passionate about. These are topics that bother or intrigue me enough to push me to get involved and make a difference. However, the area of interest that I want to explore the most at the ECU Honors College is child development and how it affects the way human beings grow and change into adults. Is it DNA, experiences, upbringing, or mindset that makes a unique individual who he or she is? I know that it all starts with childhood. Most individuals will attest to the fact that childhood events have affected the way they behave today. This aspect of child development is similar to psychology, but I am more interested in the biological science of the topic rather than the social science. However, both of these sciences go hand in hand, so I do not mind exploring both. Furthermore, I feel if I indulge myself in this topic and learn as much as I can, my knowledge will allow me to be of better service to the children I encounter in my career and life.
