Hierarchy is defined as the categorization of collection of individuals in accordance with their financial, societal and professional position in the society. Individuals are divided on the basis of race, religion, class, ethnicity and many more factors which in turn have great impact on the health and services provided to individuals in these distinct categories. Firstly, we will discuss social dominance theory which was developed by Sidanius and Pratto in the year 1999. The theory describes the source of societal hierarchies and how these classifications boost certain groups and adversely affect people in particular groups (Moss, 2016). According to this theory, there are dominant and subordinate groups and there exists inequality in both these groups. There are three different arrangement of hierarchy in all developed economies on the basis of age, gender and subjective reasons such as ethnic group, race, rank, belief and faith. There are five key determinants of this theory. To start with, governing groups possess dominance over other minor groups. Also societal background greatly impacts these groups. It is more prevalent in males than females and is affected by traits of people and socialization happenings. We further discuss Karl max’s theory of socialism which classifies individuals in society into three groups namely upper, middle and lower class (Hierarchy structure, 2017). Normally known as the Marxist Social Hierarchy, the said theory explains that the wealthiest individuals owning land belongs to upper class, individuals who work for upper class and sells their talent in return of money comprises of middle class. The society is centered around the autocratic-hereditary government that runs the country. The ruler follows the influence of their families’ ideas and thoughts with very little original ideas being implemented. Despite the system of government, the society has many freedoms and liberties to do as they please. Slightly lower in ranking than the family that runs the society, the upper class can be found. I would like to present an idea that West Tennessee Healthcare can truly benefit from. In my proposal, I believe it would be great if WTH would implement a counseling center just for our veterans and their family. This institution would be design to allow all veterans and their families are able to meet and open up about mundane issues that the civilian world could not possibly relate to. I have listened to many of our veterans speak in this area alone wishing there was a center right here in Jackson, TN to go for help. Yes, I know we have a Peer Center, but not a counseling center to accommodate veterans and their families.

Clash of Power Within every great society there has always been a hierarchy. This establishment of power has been seen from modern times to ancient times. From presidents, kings, queens, counsels, and emperors, some sort of hierarchy has always managed to resemble within every great society. This structure of power seems to influence peace within the society.

CSHS provides comprehensive primary health care services throughout three Michigan counties and has 25 locations. Three of the fixed locations are school-based health centers in low income communities. No patient is turned away due to inability to pay. In addition to its fixed locations, CSHS has a mobile vision/dental clinical that serves 70 schools. The Grand Rapids Public School system alone has a total of 63 schools with 17,000 students, with three of the poorest high schools served by CSHS school-based health centers. As a whole, CSHS sees 65,000 patients per year and 32% of the service area is below 100% of the federal poverty level and are Medicaid eligible. Approximately 16% or 2,720 will have at least one chronic condition (Rezaee & Pollock, 2015).

A world of system designed to keep people in unjust and unequal positions is held in place by several interrelated expression of "power over": political power, economic power, physical force, and ideological power (Bishop, 1994: 36). So, we can say power is defined as a possession of control, authority or influence over others. In terms of power of dominant groups over subordinate groups, we define power as domination of one group of people over another in major important spheres of life. Power inequities have been in existence throughout the history of humanity and the ways of manifestation evolved from extreme overt oppression to subtle, covert oppression. A world structured around a very in-depth system for society seems somewhat organized and similiar to the class system we have today. The only difference with a five-tiered system is the level of specificity and how strict the system actually is. In Brave New World, Aldous Huxley gives the reader a peak into a society, set in A.F. 632, that borders extreme and makes the audience fearful of the future. This utopia allows for an extreme caste system, consisting of five levels of intelligence, and factories to produce these intelligent, or unintelligent people.

A day for the public health nurse can vary depending on which seasons she is going into. During the start of a school year she could give up to 800 shots just in 2 weeks to update school vaccines. During the cold seasons, there is roughly 500 to 600 shots given for influenza shots. Every day she logs on to ShowMeVacs, which is used by the state to access vaccination records for any individual that has received an immunization. Many pediatric patients come in to receive their immunization shots even if they don’t have insurance. The health department does not like to turn anyone away if they ask for immunization because this may be the only way they can get an immunization.

Social Stratification is a term used by sociologists to describe inequalities that exist between society and us as individuals and can also be described as a hierarchy with the less privileged people at the bottom and the more favoured people at the top. (Giddens, 2006)

World is composed of social stratification, a system which people are divided into layers based on their property, power and prestige. This stratification labels people and causes them to think accordingly within their own stratification. It can be expressed in four major groups as follows: slavery, caste system, estate, and class. Though it can be described in slavery, caste system, and estate, these are all old forms of social stratification that are not used commonly in the present. Therefore, my paper will be focusing on the description of the class system.

Even without being consciously aware of it, the use of some sort of scale when interacting with others is quintessential. This is because it represents a basic need of defining the self through the means of the others; knowing one’s place in society, as well as the positions of fellow individuals, ensures an orderly functioning of said system. For the sake of this essay, the definition of social stratification as a society’s categorization of its people into rankings of socioeconomic tiers based on factors like wealth, income, race, education, and power (Pearce, 2015), will be used.

Social stratification defines any structure of inequality that persists in a society across generations. Social strata are groups of people — who belong to the same social class or have the same social level. Social strata are organised in a vertical hierarchy. In the early societies people shared a common social standing. In the hunting and gathering societies there was little stratification: men hunted for meat while women gathered edible plants. The general welfare of the society depended on the mutual sharing of goods between all members and no group emerged as better off than the others.
