1LT Giles' performance as an Platoon Leader was exceptional. His platoon flawlessly conducted high-risk detention operations in Camp V the only maximum security facility in the DOD, and were consistently recognized by their commanders and distinguished visitors. His leadership directly contributed to the Joint Detention Group mission, while ensuring safe, humane, legal, and transparent care and custody of over 30 detainees. 1LT Giles impeccably served in a high visibility and fast operational tempo assignment as an Assistant OIC for Camps V. He completed over 140 shifts leading more than 31 Soldiers on shift in the camps and was responsible for a 100 bed, $18 million facility. 1LT Giles ensured the accurate submission of over 1,000 SIGACTs,
The U.S. Army ran the camps, but foresters, carpenters and other people directed the work. The CCC fought forest fires, planted trees, built roads, buildings, picnic areas, swimming areas, campgrounds and created many state parks. When not working, the men socialized and had opportunities to learn crafts and skills.
Camp Ondessonk was taking a stand in Illinois History by going against all city life and opening an area to allow kids to see the natural land. Many cities were industrializing Illinois and making it harder for kids in the cities to see what the Earth has for them. Camp Ondessonk allowed a chance for these kids to see the land and creations "made for them." This impacted the lives of many campers and staff at camp, they leave camp with a knowledge of the world around them.

So when they were released from the camps exhausted and confused, what did they do? Well, most of them moved away or tried to return to their homes. Anywhere they could go to escape the germans, they went. Even after the war was over, anti-semitism still lingered in europe. Despite being mass-liberated, there continued to be violent protests and threats towards jews.

Camp Schmidt is a one time opportunity, overnight camp for fifth graders, offered by Prince Georges County. Every fifth graders at Kenilworth Elementary School got permission slips asking if they wanted to go to Camp Shmidt. We had to get a parent signature, so when I got my mom not only signed the permission slip she volunteered to chaperone on the trip. The bus ride from my school to Camp Schmidt took about forty-five minutes. On the way there I talked to my friends and played my 2DS. When we arrived at Camp Shmidt, we wasted no time starting our camp adventure. The girls went to their cabin to unpack and the boys went to their side to unpack too. After we moved on to learn about deer and deer manure. That night we had a campfire
