Annotated Bibliography Is web-based supply chain integration right for your company (Downing, 2010)? Since Wal-Mart is a mass market retailer, its primary source of value that it adds to the company is derived from its supply chain. Wal-Mart has suppliers located all over the world and it purchases goods from a wide range of different types of vendors. Many of the company's primary vendors are directly connected to Wal-Mart's IT systems through what is referred to as an electronic data interchange (EDI). An EDI can instantaneous transmit data between Wal-Mart and their vendors. Such information can consist of order information, stock supplies, demand forecasting and many other key supply chain metrics. The advantages of such a system are clear as they can greatly assist creating efficiencies in the supply chain. However, not all suppliers have developed sufficient IT technologies to participate in an EDI program with Wal-Mart. Another option for greater coordination between parties in the supply chain is web-based supplier integration. Although the web-based systems are not quite as sophisticated as an EDI, they are more accessible for many of the smaller suppliers and they have shown to improve long-term coordination, cooperation, and commitment. Sam Walton was born on March 29, 1918 to Thomas Gibson and Nancy Lee Walton near Kingfisher, Oklahoma. In Oklahoma, they owned and lived on a farm until 1923. The Walton's then decided that the farm was not profitable enough to raise a family on. So, Sam and Jame's (Sam's younger brother born in 1921) dad decided he would go back to being a Farm Loan Appraiser. Once this job started the Walton family moved out of Oklahoma and moved from town to town in Missouri. This would traumatize most children but for the Walton boys though it was no big deal. This could be seen when Sam was in 8th grade at Shelbina he became the youngest boy in the state's history to become an Eagle Scout and this was only a start of his

Wal-Mart is affordable, convenient, fast, and many more things to the average American, however, Wal-Mart has failed to hold up ethically in the global market. Not only are small businesses in America poorly effected by their malpractices, but countless young workers in China, Bangladesh, and Mexico are morally and financially bankrupted. The current American Wal-Mart employee starts their wage at around $9.00 an hour, which is hardly something to complain about in today’s economy. The issues we have had with Wal-Mart about maltreatment of workers in the U.S, seems to be subsiding.
In the lasting war among discount superstores, thrifty customers can follow a few of their go-to stores for deals back to that year: 1962, when Walmart, Target, and Kmart all opened their entryways. Following 50 years of moving back costs, bull 's-eyes, and Blue Light Specials, Cheapism set out to figure out which discount retailer has transcended the others as far as value, quality, and administration. As anyone might expect, Walmart posted the least cost on a shopping basket of 30 indistinguishable and like things - almost 5 percent less expensive than Target by and large and around 15 percent less expensive than Kmart. Then again, numerous clients attest that Target displays more appealing stock and a more pleasant shopping background. In their examination of Walmart, Target, and Kmart, they found that Walmart stands its ground on those fronts furthermore offers the amplest cluster of items and administrations both on the web and off, conveying real one-stop shopping. In light of current circumstances, Walmart gains their rebate crown. Target is next in line and Kmart disillusions all in all.

Wal-Mart serves numerous functions in society. The most obvious one in my opinion is to supply society with various items needed for both inside and outside the household. Another function of Wal-Mart that I quickly observed is their responsibility to try and maintain low and fair prices for its consumers on a consistent basis. One more function of Wal-Mart to society is to provide a safe and clean environment where people can feel comfortable while shopping for various items. I believe these functions are quite similar to what Wal-Mart provides for people in their individual lives.
Wal-Mart aisles and shelves are stocked with a variety of quality, value-priced general merchandise, including:
In 1962 Wal-Mart Inc. was founded by Sam Walton in Rogers, Arkansas. Mr. Walton desire was that “true leadership depends on willing service” which became the foundation that Walmart was built upon. Not to mention how that is main reason why the business has been successful in the past fifty years. Having a business which sold products that were lower in price and offered great services was the advantage point of why Walmart has been so widespread. One special reason why Mr. Walton had a difference perspective in running Walmart was that he depended upon his associates and the relationship he created with them shaped much of the achievement in the business.
