The Age of Exploration had more impact on world history than the Protestant reformation because it allowed for the Columbian Exchange to happen. Secondly, Europe was influenced by the Colonization of the Americas. Finally, the Age of Exploration influenced a new wave of business and trade practices in Europe. Some people believe that it allowed new foods to get into different parts of the world because if one country didn’t have one type of food then the other country would trade for it. the Europeans not only brought over food, they also brought over livestock for transportation. They also brought over new types of diseases that the Native Americans were never immune to. The Europeans also brought over farming tools that would benefit the
Did you know that the Age of Exploration was one the most important time in history for the world. The Age of Exploration began in the early 1500’s in the nation of Portugal under leadership of Henry the Navigator. The first expedition to circle the globe was led by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. The causes of the Age of Exploration was to look for new trade routes and spread religion. The effects of the Age of Exploration were slavery and disease.
In the early 1400’s ,the Europeans began to have control over the world by setting colonies in the Americas, along the coast of Africa, and parts of southeast Asia. This is referred to as the Age of Exploration . This Age was caused by advances in technology and it was motivated by the desire for glory, religion , and economic factors. The accomplishments of the European Age of Exploration were that ideas and goods were being exchanged, wealth allowed them better ships and navigation tools, and they had the chance to claim land and territories. These factors contributed in bringing a European Golden Age.
Illnesses such as smallpox killed the majority of Native American populations significantly weakening the Naive Americans allowing for Europeans to more easily conquer them. The transfer of crops from the Americas to Europe allowed for a more population growth and shaped their cuisine to this day. Potatoes and native to the Americas yet they are and were a staple of European diets, most notably the Irish. European discovery of resources in the Americas led to millions of African slaves being shipped to the Americas to work in mines or plantations. This widespread slave trade has influences race relations to this day.
Culture wasn’t the only thing that the Europeans brought over to the Americas. Along with their customs and rules, came the diseases that the Native American’s have never been exposed to. The Europeans brought many communicable diseases such as small pox and measles which were transmitted to the Native Americans through trade goods or someone infected with them. This quickly annihilated most of the Native American population.
Native Americans were deeply effected by colonization. It was extremely unfair of the Europeans to destroy Native American way of life. If the Native Americans had the weapons, like guns and disease, that the Europeans did, then maybe they could have fought for what was theirs. Europeans came to America and changed the Native Americans lives forever. This contact between the Native Americans and Europeans was called the Columbian Exchange. While both Native Americans and Europeans received advantages and disadvantages from the Columbian Exchange, Native Americans definitely suffered more while the Europeans were benefited
The Columbian Exchange had a major effect on people residing in the United States. Disease was the number one cause of death amongst the other tragedies that came with the Columbian Exchange such as violence, culture, trade, and people that had followed Columbus. Many Native Americans died from diseases that were brought from Europe. The Europeans who had brought the diseases over did not seem to have done it intentionally. The Europeans were just in search of the New World. Native Americans lived free from the terrible diseases that destroyed populations in Asia, Europe, and Africa. Therefore, when Europeans came to America no one knew how to treat the diseases or how to handle them. Native Americans lacked the ability to fight off bacteria
The New world gave the Old world many riches and foods. This allowed the European Culture to expand into more of an agricultural country, allowing the population to rise. Although the New world did receive an abundance of plaques and illnesses from the Old, it also gave the Old world syphilis. Giving the Europeans their first lethal sexually transmitted illness. Both the Native Americans and the Europeans had suffered from illness and disease. With the ships the Europeans had brought over the ocean they had along with them animals including horses, cows and pigs. This allowed the Natives to travel more on horseback and instead of hunting they could raise
In the Americas, European settlers and conquistadors brought disease that devastated Native American communities. They also forced many Native Americans off their land to build settlements. Many native cultures were almost completely destroyed because of Europeans coming to America.

Europeans brought diseases to the Americas, such as smallpox and measles. The original descendants did not bring the diseases because they traveled through the cold and they had no domesticated animals. Many of these diseases were caused by domesticated animals. At
First, the Age of Exploration resulted in the spread of religion, specifically the spread of Christianity and Catholicism. The King of the Congo willingly converted to Catholicism when presented with the religion. He was interested in holy objects, and was baptized as soon as the church foundation was laid (Doc. 2). Because the King of the Congo converted to Catholicism, many people in his kingdom would have converted as well in order to follow their king. This was an example of a positive impact because everything was done peacefully, and it ended with cultural diffusion, thus making social connections stronger between nations. One should note, however, that the author of this document was a Catholic. Because of this, there is a possibility that he only saw the positive ramifications of the conversion of the king, making it seem like a more joyous event than it might have been. Second, the Age of Exploration involved religious-based wars, including the Anglo-Spanish war. In Document 4, a painting is shown depicting the defeat of the Spanish Armada, which was the Spanish fleet of ships. This defeat took place during the Anglo-Spanish war between England and Spain. During the war, Elizabeth I was the queen of England, and Philip II was the ruler of Spain. Part of the reason this war occurred was because England at the time was Protestant. Philip II was a Catholic, and he felt it his Catholic duty to invade England and try to convert them back to Catholicism. Wars can be seen as both positive and negative, because although one side will lose, it will end in the victory of the other. In this case, England won the war, giving it more power than it had before. Third, the Age of Exploration brought about the slaughter of many because of religion. Document 5 describes, in detail in a letter to the Pope, the slaughter of the Mayas who had refused to convert to
If it weren't for the age of exploration we wouldn't know lots of things. The european age of exploration is a time when countries started to travel to find new things. They mainly traveled by water to find all of the items. If it weren't for our ancestors we wouldn't have multiple food, resources, and material. This all mainly started because of christopher colombus and the ottomans.
There are many aspects of history that are considered to be controversial. The Age of Exploration was considered to be a positive achievement because of the discovery of the new world known as America. Although people believed this, there were a lot of things going on in the background that were very negative. The age of exploration should be considered a crime against humanity because of the deadly diseases, ruthless conquistadors, and the endless slavery. The Europeans who traveled from Europe to the Americas carried many diseases with them that affected the Native Americans drastically.
The Age of Exploration was a major factor of bringing Europe away from the Dark Ages. They took risks that caused positive and negative outcomes for them and outside forces. Despite the centuries that had passed while in this age, they kept the same basic motives. These were God, Glory, and Gold. Conclusively, this was the time when Europe
Arising out of the “Dark Ages” was the very weak Europe. After taking death tolls from the black death which was devastating to the European population, and also poverty spread around the entirety of Europe, the population felt stuck. In the early 1400s, the Europeans began to set out and explore the world by settling colonies in the Americas, along the coast of Africa, and parts of India and Southeast Asia. This is referred or known as the Age of Exploration. The push factors and the causes of European exploration lead to a numerous amount of accomplishments ranging from new colonies/territories to bringing in wealth. If the Europeans had not had some of the push factors the Age like the fall of Constantinople, Columbus discovering the “New World” and economic reasons European Exploration would have never begun, or it would’ve taken many more years.
